Default Nokia 6230 problem

Right fella's,

Had a 6230 for ages, its been great,no problems at all until last night.
The memory card section is now asking for a password.I have never set a password to this section.I have tried entering the words"password,nokia,12345,00000"...Non of these work.
It also seems to have lost all the content on the memory card as the "memory used" icon is now 0.0...

Any help appreciated guys..

Oh..i have removed the memory card and sim and rebooted the phone, and done the "reset factory settings",.Still no luck

The memory card is protected at a hardware level by a user-determined code. This is usually disabled by default.

Sounds like your card has become corrupt.

There are applications available out there that can reformat the card and make it usable again. Have a google for it. If you can't find it, give me a shout and I'll see what I can do.

Cheers mate...been having a look around the various phone forums and it seems like this is a fairly common fault..
Basically, from what i can gather, the MMC is scrap..It can be reformatted, but it looks like i have lost everthing that was on it anyway..may as well just buy another and start again..
How annoying is that??

Buy a cheap USB card reader from somewhere like Mobymemory and see if you can salvage any of the files from your PC. You can also use this to re-format the card and use it again if all else fails.

Apperently, even if i use a card reader,it wont let me access the card because of the password lock..Thats what i understand, although i could be reading it incorrectly..Think the MMC are only a tenner anyway, just wish i could get back all the Frankie Vaughn i have lost..

I may be able to have a look at it for you- cant promise anything though- if you want to send it to me. I work with a digital recovery guy- if its possible to get it back it should only take ten minutes so im sure he wont mind!- if it isnt they'll know within ten seconds!
pm me if you're desperate! it'll cost you only the postage each way

Believe me - the Nokia MMC cards are hardware locked. Almost impossible to recover files from these.

We have plenty of kit for data recovery, but we're really struggling with these MMC media cards.

T123VOR - if your mate can get info back from these, I'd be very interested to speak to him. If he's successful, can you let me have his email address please?

ta.

BuRR you are right - so at the mo' he cant read them - but he is working on them

Damaged ones are one thing, passwords are another much harder nut

Sorry about that
