Question Is Paypal and immediate payment?

I won an e-bay bid for a ticket to the Oxegen Festival (Dublin, July) and immediately sent payment via my Paypal account and rec'd Paypal receipt etc.

Seller now says he will wait for payment clearance before posting ticket.

What is position please? David

Header should read "an immediate". Can you edit title - always wondered?

I think he means he is going to wait untill the funds have been withdrawn into his bank account which can take up to 7 days .... he should have stated he was going to do this really!

Pay pal is immediate, once it appears on his pay pal account its gone and cleared AFAIK. Him saying he is going to wait to get it into his account is abit like me saying I have recieved the cash you sent but I wont send the item till i've got down the bank on Saturday and put it in .....

Sometimes, if you pay via Paypal immediately, the automated message telling you to pay comes after the receipt.
Is it the seller or the automated response from ebay that is telling you this?

Assuming that you did not pay by Echeque - which takes 10 days to clear, then a Paypal payment is cleared immediately. The only issue would be that maybe the seller wants to check his Paypal account online to see the received payment rather than accept an auto email from Paypal (which could be fake). Even then, we're talking about a few minutes to check online.

If you had sufficient funds in your paypal account or used a credit card, then the payment is immediate - I bought an item off ebay last week at about 2pm in the afternoon, paid immediately by paypal and the item arrived the next morning at 8am.

There is really no reason for the seller not to send the goods as soon as he has verified the payment on-line, unless he doesn't understand how paypal works or wants to get the money out of paypal into a bank account before you have a chance to claim for non-arrival of goods. If there is no money in his account when you claim, paypal will just say "tough titty".

I hope he has good feedback!

I got paid for a DVD drive on paypal.

4 days later paypal took the money back saying it was a stolen card.

Now I wait till it's actually transferred into my bank account.

I recently bought an item from the Uk via ebay using paypal and got an email response about winning the auction with the following script;

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations, the item is yours. Please pay now!
-----------------------------------------------------------------

- just assumed it was an automated reply and ignored it.

Goods arrived as requested a couple of weeks later.
