Not in Blair's Britain! It seems that even paratroopers - supposedly one of the more premier regiments cant even jump out of planes now, because there arent any planes!

My cousin's husband was off to Oman as training and working up prior to his tour in Afghanistan. He's based at Catterick and was flying from Brize Norton. His depature date was constantly changed and in the end the Army couldn't provide any transport to Brize Norton, so my cousin had to drive him there otherwise she wouldn't have seen their car again for six months

British Army - best trained, best disciplined but badly equipped. The Yanks on the other hand have all the shiny kit but no idea how to organise a **** up in a brewery.

Atleast we won't have anymore of it, now finished in the army and out of this house in May, eventually returning to normal life and no-more moving around all the time.

Using your age in a mildly humorous way as an attempt to explain the reasoning behind your simplistic one-dimensional argument.

Edit to say:

· The total number of British troops in Afghanistan will fluctuate over the next few months, peaking briefly at around 5,700 before reducing to less than 4,700 as the engineers building the camps in Helmand and an existing Harrier GR7 detatchment withdraw in July and June respectively.

Unfortunately, this Persian excursion whilst conducting American foreign policy has resulted in this overstretch of the Herc fleet but I cannot see why they don't use another platform? What about Chinooks - surely this would be a far quicker way of achieving their training objectives?
Anyway, when was the last time the Paras were ever dropped into a hostile area? Is it really that relevant when there have always been more Royal Marines with parachute wings than actual Para's?

The big red regiment of the US force is bigger than the entire british army.
We should be lucky our boys are only in Iraq where it was a walk in the park where most of the so called soldiers came out with their hands up and have better living conditions whilst captured.
