I know it's a caterpillar of some kind but it was a huge ugly f*cker.
Unfortunately I didn't keep it to see what it changed into.

Ah, yes, the Elephant Hawk moth. Excellent beast. The "eyes" are just markings on a swollen part of the body behind the head and thorax segments. It's pulled those segments in, as part of its defence reaction. ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
What plant did you find it on? I've seen them on Rosebay willow-herb and privet.

It was summer last year, I was round my parents house when my mum found it, not sure where she discovered it though.
I think the size of it added to the shock value.
