Recommend a surveyor in the Reading area?

As it says in the title,
Other half & I are getting a place together; offer accepted yesterday.![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
It's an older place that has been lived in by the same couple for 44 years, so a bit lacking in the decoration & facilities departments but "has potential".
Can anyone recommend a good surveyor in the Reading (or Berkshire) area for us please?
Thanks,
Steve

Can't recommend a surveyor, but you won't find a better solictor than Tom Mason at Bowles & Co in Castle Hill. (Used him 3 times & each time superb service, cheap solictors will cost you dear when they do bugger all !)

1. Instruct the surveyors that your mortgage lender uses to do a fulll survey (and pay whatever they charge)
2. Instruct whichever surveyors you want to do the survey, and pay the bank/building society a small fee (typicall £100-£200 I believe) to use these surveyors for the mortgage valuation
3. Get mortgage people to do a valuation survey for the mortgage, and instruct who you want to do the full whack. This is probably the most expensive option!

Hi Hades - sounds like you've been through the same situation recently then?
I'll chat with the mortgage folks next week to see what they can offer.
I just want to make sure we get a full survey, backed up by a surveyor'e professional indemnity insurance.
Cheers,
Steve
