Recommend me an Electric Shower
Following a scream from the shower upstairs when the water went cold on my wife, it would appear that our 15 year old Mira electric shower has finally died. May it R.I.P.
Dilema! What do we buy ???? This was an unexpected cost that we could really do without at the moment, so need to spend wisely.
We know we want a wall mounted electric shower offering as much power as possible. I am unable to go for a "drain your hot water tank in 2 mins power shower" so this would appear to be our only option.
Also, does anyone know a good/reliable plumber around Camberley area so we can use them to install once we have bought.
Help!!!!!!!!
Cheers
Chris.

Chris, I recently reolaced my Mira, like for like which saved any re-tiling work as it was the same size.
I can't remember the model but it was a good one. I saved £100 by buying it from a shower dealer on eBay. Might be worth a look.

If you go for a shower with the water connection in the same place, you can do it yourself. We'll tell you how once you've bought it....

If you can, go for the quartz or Axis digital - great bit of kit - 5 years part and labour warranty by Aqualisa. - I have one myself and seing as I run an internet bathroom company
look here if you want www.thediscountbathroom.co.uk
Delivery is 3 to 5 days
Remember is you go for quartz or axis - pumped if you have a gravity fed system or standard if you are on pressurised system or combi boiler
thanks

If you have push fit connectors you should'nt have too much grief replacing the shower anyway.
Recently replaced my Wickes own brand power shower ( finally gave up, hated it anyway ! ) for a new Mira Event XS and it took no time at all to replace .
So although mines a Power shower can def. recommend Mira, and you can always get the spares for them no problem at all .

What is broken in the Mira?
I had a similar situation 5/6 years back and managed to get some replacement parts and a new cover from www.showerdoctor.co.uk.
I didn't have to mess about re-tiling either.

I'm not sure what's faulty but whenever the shower is turned on (unless you only have cold water) it trips the main fuse in the house.
We're going to stick with an electric shower but following the advice from a very helpful chap at www.thediscountbathroom.co.uk we've got an electrician friend popping in Monday to check the wiring so atleast we know what our options are as to the max kw shower we can have without rewiring.

Yes that was my wife Sarah Thankyou very much indeed !
I've had the cover off & it looks straight foward enough to replace so once we've had the wiring checked I'll probably be in touch
