Instead of starting all six Guinea Pigs off on the trial drug at the same time why didn't they just dose a couple to start with and then the next two 48 hours later and so on.
Can't see any obvious drawbacks to this and of course it would have meant just two suffering instead of all six patients? (assuming of course that any adverse reaction is going to be quite quick).

That's the whole point. That is what they SHOULD have done if they followed the guidelines correctly. problem is, it is very rare for anything to go wrong so they didn't follow them strictly to the letter. Hence why legal action taking place.
