Default V for Vendetta

Anyone seen it yet?

I watched it last night and was impressed. An intelligent action movie with a good message about how governments can end up having too much control over out lives.

Kept me interested throughout, and the acting was good too - even if Portmans English accent did slip a little in places, but I'll forgive her because shes fit

Yeah I thought it was good too. Thank god I didn't listen to Jonathon Woss on Film 2006, he gave it such a panning for some reason.

Probably because he's read and appreciated the comic strip it was based on. The film is rubbish watered down crap compared to it.

Still doesn't make it a bad film though. To be honest, anything based on a book or comic is almost always going to get a panning from that fan base anyway, but to say it was a bad film that you definitely should not go and see, and don't even let your curiosity get the better of you, is wrong I think. All he need to say is it was only very loosely based on the comic and leave it at that.

I watched it at home and thought it was a weak dissappointment. Special effects might have looked better on the big screen I suppose but overall I thought they dumbed it down too much.

Hasn't Alan Moore had his name taken off the credits, AND refused the royalties too?

It was OK. The story about Governments having too much power was far too obvious and pretty weak and pretty obvious in todays climate.

Orson Wells and Terry Gilliam did it better.

He hates any films made of his stuff reportedly. I've met him and he's a VERY weird guy if interesting with it so I wouldn't let that put you off.
What I didn't like was the watering down of the story to meet the approval of Hollywood. Ozzy's comments tend to support that point of view- the comic strip had a much harder impact.

Saw it a few weeks ago...hired from Blockbusters.......couldn't say anything either way.
Did like Hugo Weaving's voice all the way through it tho'. Pity we didn't get to see his visage.
