Depends on the Church, I married a divorcee in a methodist church, C of E wouldn't even consider it.

All depends on faiths and vicars.

Catholic church wont or didnt entertain divorcee,s period, but they may have relaxed now, depending on who is the divorcee.

C of E depends on the diocean (sp) Bishop's stance, some vicars are relaxed and accept that people get divorced, and are quite happy, however if the official line from there powers that be is no, then they follow that.

Methodist cant say

Baptist are quite happy, and they allowed my new wife and I to get married, i,m the divorcee btw and i,m non baptist.

You should be able to marry anywhere you like- so what if you are a divorcee!
As long as you or, your lover are not a bigamist or a polygamist,it shouldn't make any difference.
I would boycott any church, temple or a mosque myself if it is so against humanity,FFS!

Not if you are Catholic, and generally the church of England frowns upon it to the extent of the answer being "no"

Church of Scotland has no such barriers - hence why Princess Anne, for example, was married in Scotland the second time around IIRC

Are you marrying a man or a woman - will have a bearing on the answer .

A good alternative to the trad. wedding would be a service of blessing following a civil ceremony. All denominations are happy with this as far as I know and the service is quite similar to a regular wedding ceremony.

I once went to a church wedding where the Vic was banging on about Jesus helping with the Bins and the dishes.

We assumed the guy had taken a funny turn .

All that god fearing must take it's toll !

As far as I know it will depend on the circumstances...

This is a major bible text on the issue...
Matthew 19:9 (New King James Version)
9 And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality,[a] and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”

Footnotes: a Matthew 19:9 Or fornication
One might be surprised to find that some Ministers actually read, agree with and obey the word of God - and most that I know would want to talk to the couple and counsel them before agreeing to marry them.

Marriage is the second biggest decision that you make in your life...

Anyway, all the best to the happy couple

B2Z - we've had some great bikers weddings in the CMA - maybe some of the lads could give some hints about setting one up http://www.bike.org.uk/cma/gallery.php

So just tell your vicar that your ex was ******** around, or that your divorced wife to be wasn't, and you'll be fine

More fool them for not sitting down with the vicar beforehand and making sure he or she is ok with it.

- I don't know why women want to keep a wedding dress anyway - They're only supposed to be used once So who cares oif it get wrecked on the back of a bike - make some awesome video

the other thing is if she REALLY won't (no point starting off a new marriage on the wrong foot, it is HER day after all ) - you don't have to leave on the bike... You could just turn up on it, preferably with the best man on matching machine...

- My missus was just relieved that my best man & I didn't turn up in Gorilla suits - I was forgiven anything after that

they did and he was.....he just made it clear that marriage was a life long commitment etc, etc.....which made the two of them look like fools for getting married, giving up and then trying again in a church which they obviuously had no belife in.

There is a technicality for Catholics - but they don't like using it! If your future wife is the divorcee and her other half just upped sticks and left her for no real reason and then divroced her - then in theroy you're OK. But as I said - they're not keen to broadcast it!

Methodists will do it but will want to meet with you both first and understand why the first marriage ended in divorce and why you want to get married in church. My brother married me - and there's not many people who can say that legally! He's a Methodist Minister and he married me and my luvverly hubby!

Mind you - I've even known some Rabbi's to be pretty OK with it - as long as you've understood, learned and grown from the experience.

Good luck!

As I read this thread, the Google ad at the bottom is for "NHI Hair Transplants - the Industry leaders in Natural Hair Implantation"

That's quite a candid interpretation of "divorcees"
