Glad that this sort of thing has not gone unnoticed. Would need to be a real quickdraw with alt+f4 sometimes

If using IE5 you should try a seriously nifty app called 'Popupstopper'.

It can be found at http://www.5star-shareware.com/Internet/BrowserAdd-Ons/popup-stopper.html

This is the best application in the world if you get as p'd off as everyone else on the planet with pop ups

Cheers

Thumbs up

Yep. I think that this one is pretty well 'donationware' It reminds you of just how cool it is after every 40 windows or so, but is still free to use.

Cheers,

Footlong

can you help me set my pop up killer?

It's making all my pop ups very small on the top left hand side of my screen, even when I click on a page in scooby, so I have to click on enlarge to see weather it's ok to see or its a bad pop up.

I just want it to shut down junk pop up, you know the kind I mean.

email me all the setting you have in options etc

Thanks

All i can advise on is the preferences and compare them to mine.

In preferences, general, only autostart is ticked.
In Look & Feel, tray icon, tabs text and soundeffects and ticked.
In detection, nothing is ticked.
I have it doing the business on 2 machines without problem

Remember to also synchronize your popups. The upload feature doesn't work. Just the download
I use Win2K on both of the machines and IE5.5/6

Hope that gets you going.....

Cheers,

Nick

I wrote a popupkiller in vb - i'll see if I can dig it out.....what it does is look for instances of IE once it's been run, then doesn't allow more then a specific number of additional IE windows to be run, can be frustrating if you honestly want loads of ie windows open - but other than that it works a treat...

I normally use popup filter and it was great, you have nothing to do and it just stops every annoying popup that you don't want,

and it keeps a record of the ones it stops, but no setting up at all, but it's only a trial version for 30 popups, but then after the 30 popups you then have to uninstall it then put it on again takes less then a minite.

So when you download it for the first time, save it to you hard drive in a folder then you can just click on the set up each time you want it back on your desktop activated..

Ps I would really like to download a verson thats easy and reliable as this is...
