Default Jet Bike - Advice

Been thinking about investing in a jet bike for the summer. I'm looking on ebay at prices, but just wondering what to look for (tell tale signs of a bad one) and costs to own.

Any idea if a major part or enginne went how much to get it fixed

I'm looking at seadoos

Cheers
Burt

Was asked before. Don't know about costs, but consider that you could get very bored of it very quickly, unless you live right next door to a lake that allows them - quite rare these days.

A friend of mine put me off buying one a couple of years ago. The service costs are high and frequent.
If buying a 2nd hand one, find out if it's been used on fresh water or the sea. It makes a difference.

I really miss my old one. The novelty didn't wear off on the sea, plenty of waves to jump off. Some of the earlier Sea-doos were supposed to be quite unreliable, but mine was fine. Servicing wasn't that expensive. The new four-stroke ones are heavier but require much less maintenance

If engine is flushed properly after use and everything is washed off, it makes no difference. Mine was in amazing condition when I sold it.

Here is a good site ,the guys on here will answer all your questions .....www.pwcforums.co.uk

For a first ski most recommend a Yamaha waverunner, the xl 700 is the most hired ski on the planet ,so that tells you how well regarded they are!

If you go up to the GP 800,thats 120bhp and is very rapid ,stable and ye can take a mate on it or tow a skiier or toy with it.
You also get a 1200 which basically is the r1 bike engine and is super quick also! These are all 2 stroke but there is now 4 stroke machines available but expect to pay decent money!

I also wouldn't buy one without a water test if buying private or warranty if buying from a dealer!

P.S they guzzle fuel worse than a scooby, you can easily do in 50-60 litres in an afternoon!

That'll be the XP Ltd. I had the same motor in my GSX Ltd. Happy days

I've had three jetski's in the past, with my favourite being the Seadoo GSX Ltd (1999 model). 130bhp on tap and bloody quick (real adrenalin rush).

Check the hours it's done (equivalent to the mileage on a car) and make sure it's got a service history. Seadoo's seem to be the most popular, but the Yamahas and Kawasaki's (in my opinion) are more reliable and parts are cheaper.

I started out on a lake is Essex but then started launching in Herne Bay and Margate. Once you've been out on the sea, you never go back to a lake!

I sold up a couple of months before I got married and put the money towards my honeymoom as I was starting to get bored of them
