Talking BBC to screen world cup in HDTV.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4834322.stm

............but only to a "select" number of viewers in London.

I'm sure an appropriate "loan" could get you on that list....

It'll be available to everyone. If you recieve you TV through Sky and pay something like the £200 theyre wanting for their Thomson set top box to recieve HD Signals and the £50 a month subscription for it then you'll get it, doesnt matter where you are. Oh yeah, presuming you have a HD Ready TV too.

The "select" number of households in London is for freeview trails because there isnt the bandwidth to chuck it out to everybody as yet.

Again at the minute HDTV is over priced and rediculous, especially when you consider the amount of people with HD ready sets. give it another 2 years before we see any realistic prices and worth of monies IMO.

Great! We can all see how truly hideous the Nevilles are, if they both play

Lastest indications from digitalspy are £299 for the box and £10 subscription. (to be worked out according to current subs, i.e. like Sky +)

Not sure how accurate that is, but it suits me.

High Definition - next generation of TVs apparently. I don't watch enough to justify it.

High Definition, its the next step up from Digital , so weve gone from Terrestrial to Digital and now we're going to HDTV.

Kuro, £300 **** that. £10 subscription isnt too bad though, wonder what the offer will be from new customers, free box but £299 installation fee...lol
