NTL are supposed to be bad but never had a problem myself.
BT, now theyre a bunch of ar$es, been on the phone passed around like a muppet for about 2 hours solid on a friday afternoon once. I was f'ing and blinding at them by the end of it all, wasnt all bad, ended up being given 6 months free line rental and calls

i used to work answering phones (temp) and at one time people were being held in the queing system for hrs on end!!!...
the place i worked won't be named but it was somewhere people had to get through quite importantly to!.
the volume of calls at some of these places is absolutly amazing!

O2 - 45 min queues last year only to be told that the person I got through to was "call snatching" due to lack of staff and so they couldnt answer my query, but someone would call be back within 24 hours :eek1:

Give PayPal a call if you're bored - that'll waste a couple of hours.
My record with them was 2:23 minutes to try to resolve a 'fund reversal' caused by someone using a stolen credit card to pay for an auction I ran. Given the fact that the crook wouldn't respond to any of PayPal's requests, they decided to come after me instead, thinking I was a soft touch...

25 minutes for the Manchester United Ticket office, at which point I gave up. It took a combined total of 90 minutes on the phone (across 5 calls) to get through, to find out they had a power cut so had no access to the computers to solve my query!

Can't remember which company it was, but their call centre shut at 6pm. Called at 5:20pm, and sat in a queue until 6pm, when Greensleeves changed to a message saying that the call centre was now closed and I should call back tomorrow.
To say I was a tad miffed is an understatement

I'm an ex-call centre manager and we used to run the TV lic'ing contract. When we introduced free lic's for the over 75s I remember call waiting times of 2hours . I'd listen in to calls, panicking blindly as my bonus went out the window and would hear these old dears who could barely operate their bodies, let alone a telephone! It became particularly difficult explaining that the reason calls were q'ing so long was because people were spending so long complaining about the qs (and then spending the next 10minutes saying "i'm 94 you know").
