I beleive its £50 each child, each occasion fixed penalty type of fine if the school don't agree..... and to be fair they won't at sats time!, But don't contest it, woman around her did and got a heavy fine £500+ if i remember right,If you have a couple of kids pay the fine and tell the head teacher to stuff himself! lol
You could always do the old sickie trick..... kids are stressed out by the work load, they need a holiday.......

Hope this helps a little

SATS are very important part of the Schools monitering systems for both pupil and the Schools itself

I would be surprised if the Head Teacher gave permission especially if they are bright

However you can only ask

Sorry Si a very uneducated response. I spent the last inset day covering the updated guidlines on inclusive education

Inset days have to be granted and justified by the Chair of Governors

Of course putting a good presentation to the Head will help

Explaning what positives your child will get from the holiday from both an educational and personal perspective

Is always a winner

Because teachers pay and conditions deem these as their holidays

Would you want to work during your holiday?

but by doing this my children are missing out on school learning time,so does this mean i can fine the school £50 for each child,as this is what i get fined if i take my child out of school in term time

how many holidays do teachers get? is it out of 1yr you get something like 101 days holiday, so you wouldnt give up 3 or 4 days to do inset days + your on full pay,and why do you have inset days they never had them when i was at school, and the jobs made easer now with teaching assistants

Why book a holiday when your kids are supposed to be in school, or are they off then but have to go in for the SATs or something

As for inset etc, I can personally gaurantee that its far from "just a day off"

LOL

Actually the government sets minimum days that you child must be taught that allows for 4 inset days throughout the school year

As I said earlier those inset days have to be justified and agreed with the Chair of Governors

the obvious reason for booking whilst in school is the cost (much cheaper) and when i booked it i did original think it was the holidays i did not know it was there sats until today

I think as his child is in Key Stage one he may not have been aware of the SAT's

I am sure he didn't book it on purpose

Please note that I took my kids out of school [the one that I am Chair of ] every year but right at the end of the summer term making sure I got back for the last week as I think this is important. However now they have gone up to Senior School I have booked our Holidays in the holiday period

What a dim person.Inset days are not so called.the are fact and happen and are necessary because teaching is a profession dealing with human beings ,not a factory making things.Human knowledge about human beings is developing all the time and teachers need to be kept up to date with these developments.Obviously we dont sit on our fat ***** all day on computers surfing and displaying our ignorance to all and sundry so we have to receive our training with no pupils present. By the way, the few days training we get were taken off our holidays originally. The level of the intellect you display shows,if anything, teachers need more inset.
