It's a fairly standard affair. 1 guy, getting beat on by 10. Gobby bird in the mix and then the one guy does something truely excellent and realises he's taken it way too far. Got to watch it all.
Enjoy 'netters, I'm off to Gran Canaria for two weeks so you'll get piece and quiet for a while![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Tragic evening that ended in teens kicking victim to death
ALAN MCEWEN CRIME REPORTER
IT was supposed to be a night to remember for David Douglas as he set out to celebrate his 25th birthday.
But the tragic turn of events meant it would become one which would haunt his family forever.
There was nothing amiss as David caught the bus on Princes Street to meet friends near Portobello shortly after 8pm on the Saturday night.
His thoughts turned darker though as the bus passed Piershill Square West and he saw teenagers gathered round the bus shelter.
Some were familiar faces in the area which had been plagued for months by youth disorder.
The neighbours had complained of gang fights, vandalism and even teenagers having sex in their stairwells. David knew some of the gang assembled at the bus stop that night and he was not pleased to see them.
Something inside him snapped when he realised they were shouting abuse and making obscene gestures towards him.
The 25-year-old - who had a short-temper and a reputation for violence - made the fateful decision to tackle the teenage gang.
Getting up he told a fellow passenger he was "sick" of them and jumped off the bus at the next stop just a few yards down the road.
Striding back towards Piershill Square West, he stripped off his top, leaving him bare-chested, muttering threats as he went.
One passer-by heard him, using his own nickname, say: "Dae they know Disco Dave fae up toon."
Another witness described David as "raging" as he challenged the gang to a fight - then started chasing one of them round the square.
One of the gang, 16-year-old, Daniel Douglas, who is no relation, escaped and began to walk away. One of his friends, Jamie Lothian, 17, came up behind David and hit him across the back of the head with a chair leg.
Another friend Liam McGhee, 18, joined in, using the same piece of wood to hit David and Daniel Douglas returned to take part in the attack. David dropped to the ground and a swarm of teenagers - as many as 20 claimed eyewitnesses - kicked and stamped on him as he lay on his back.
The orgy of violence was to last little more than two minutes, but it left David lying in a pool of blood, dying on the pavement.
One of attackers, Anthony Barclay, 17, held on to a stop sign pole to balance himself, while jumping on the helpless man's head.
One witness described Barclay and Douglas "jumping on the guy's face", while another, who said the attack was more like stamping than kicking, said: "They were just jumping all over him."
A group of girls fled after getting off a number 26 bus and seeing the violence unfold. A horrified couple in their 40s managed to flag down a police car nearby but the gang had fled by the time officers arrived. Workers at a nearby fish and chip shop called an ambulance, but when David got to hospital it was too late to save him.
The attack was so ferocious it had smashed the side of his skull and the flurry of vicious stamps left footprints on his face.
Later that night, Barclay would tell a friend he had needed to change his clothes. "We've just done a guy. I was stamping on his head for five minutes straight," he said, miming what he had done.
Forensic officers scouring the area found the chair leg used in the attack in a nearby hedge.
Over the coming days six teenagers were arrested and later charged with murder over the attack on May 14 last year.
Yesterday, a planned trial was halted when Barclay, of Westbank Place, Portobello, and Douglas, of Gordon Street, Leith, pled guilty to a reduced charge of culpable homicide at the High Court in Edinburgh. The pair will be sentenced next month. McGhee, of Alemoor Crescent, Leith, who admitted assaulting David will also be sentenced then.
Judge Lord Brailsford released Lothian, of St Clair Street, ordering him to be of good behaviour and return to court in six months. Defence QC Neil Murray had argued that first offender Lothian had faced the stress of a murder charge hanging over his head for a year but had only been convicted of a minor assault.
Not guilty pleas were accepted from Neil Pratt, 17, of Lochend Drive, Leith and a 15-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons. Advocate depute Bernard Ablett, prosecuting, said David had a record of violence and, at the time of his death, was awaiting trial for an alleged glass attack.
He was also seeing a psychologist about "serious anger management problems".
But, added Mr Ablett, although they recognised he was "no angel" his death had devastated his family. Councillor Shami Khan, who represents the area, was critical today of the court's decision to abandon the murder charges.
He said: "The court should have pursued the murder charges. This was not justice for the family."

Yeah that sort of sh*t is pretty commonplace. I don't have a great deal of sympathy for the guy. When you strip off and square up to 20 people on your own you have to accept they are probably going to give you a hammering. Stupid in the extreme.
I get angry at attacks on people that are minding their own buisness and for no good reason at all (happy slapping, etc). At the end of the day if neds want a fight there are plenty of other neds that will fight them so why beat seven shades of sh*t out of a family man for being in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Nah, we were in maspolmas and had a great time
Went to Puerto Rico for the day though and it seemed nice enough (during the day). I think you just got unlucky - its the same in all these places, you need to keep your wits about you, etc.

The whole way through, all you can hear is that f'king bird screeching, it's like having your teeth drilled!
I particularly like the use of a 'safety barrier' as an offensive weapon
. A bit like being offered a lift when you're already late.
