Default King Kong

Oh. My. God.

It's the stupidest film EVER!

How did he go from LOTR to this pap!

I've actually just switched it off. The bit where they were running underneath the brontosaur-type things was just pure (bad) comedy.

The T-rex fight was the last straw.

Wish I'd just watched Solaris now tonight (for the 8th time).

An example of how to *really* remake (and improve) an old classic.

I switched off about the same time - having not watched most of the first bit as I was making dinner.

Her indoors likes it though.

I think it is pants

It was a lot better than I expected tbh. Only bad bit was casting Jack Black. Compare the dinosaur scenes to Jurassic Park and see how much effects have improved.

Simon.

To my eyes the brontosaurus scene was a bit like a fight in a jellyfish factory and did not do it for me at all - all suspension of disbelief failed.

I do agree that the T Rex was pretty good - but complex CGI seriously failed in terms of lighting, tone and surface textures.

Not a patch on the work for LOTR.

'twas a bit tedious. Ed, try and watch Syriana if you fancy a challenge.

It was awful, fell asleep shortly after they caught him and had no intention of watching the rest of it.

It was 2.5 hours too long
Most of the situations on Skull Island felt like they were just there for padding out the length of the film.
Perhpas PJ just likes to make really long films!?

I quite liked King Kong - I wouldnt be in a hurry to buy the DVD or see it again, but its the sort of film that just looks great on the big screen in the cinema. Total escapism - and pretty exciting in parts - Kong running havoc through NY was great!

Rannoch summed it up. Absolutely no suspension of disbelief! And I don't mean the CG, which was mostly exemplary, I mean the scenarios. The list is endless; the bit I originally mentioned, the guys shooting off the bugs at point blank range with a 1920's machine gun, the way Kong was waving her around without so much as a scratch, the guy running along the edge of the cliff as it gave way underneath him....it was pure comedy!

So, for clarity: You want a movie about a giant Gorilla fighting dinosaurs on a lost island to be more realistic?

Ohhhhh Kayyyyyyy
