Default Sod going to Egypt

At least 22 dead in terrorist bombings.

I was cagey enough about going there anyway, which is a shame cos the diving there is supposed to be great.

I was booked to go to Sharm in February but cancelled the trip. Though that was more to do with excessive Xmas spending than fear of terrorists. I don't think i'd book up again now though, not with nicer/safer places to go.

Not one to demean any of these bombings, but they killed more than 22 in London last year, and plenty of people still seem to wander around there.....

The point is, the risk seems the same in either place....is that enough to put you off?

Quote from the BBC artical
'Like war'

The three explosions happened in quick succession at about 1900 (1700GMT) in what is a small, low-key resort popular with Western backpackers, budget Israeli tourists and scuba-divers.

Several restaurants, shops and a supermarket were destroyed in the main tourist street close to the seafront during one of the busiest times of the day.

A German doctor, who was holidaying in the town at the time, said a 10-year-old boy died in his arms as he went to the aid of the wounded.

ATTACKS ON EGYPT TOURISM
July 2005: Bombings in Sharm El-Sheikh kill 64, mostly tourists
April 2005: Two attacks on tourists in Cairo, leave three dead
October 2004: Bombings in Taba and Ras ****an kill 34, including 12 Israelis

----------------------------------------------------------------

I for one would think twice before taking my family there.

I'm off to Sharm next month, doesn't bother me unduly as the chances of another bombing AND it happening to be in my hotel out of the many out there is still slim.

I'll be a tad miffed if they blow the airport up mind

You can't give in to these animals.
I am going as planned in July to Sharm, with the missus and a friend diving.
To stay away is to admit defeat.

I am not sure that taking my kids to a place where there is this sort of trouble to prove a point is the right course of action

I might well go on my own but not risk putting them in danger in this instance if you see what i mean.

got a surprise 60th bday family hol for my Dad to luxor in a couple of weeks but definately going to try to go somewhere else now. I know Luxor hasnt been bombed but I'm f*cked if I am going on Hols to a country that just the other week released 900 known terrorists from its Jails......

You want to relax when you are on holiday not worry about parked empty vans outside your hotel or mysterious bags left in public places etc
