For my 30th birthday my wife has paid for me to have a trip to either Brands hatch or Silverstone.

two options of Rally school , Escort Cosworth competition spec and a works built 106 GTI or a racing experience, Lotus Elise , Audi TT and others.

Has anyone else done this before ? or know anything about Octagon.

whats the better track of the two ?

what one would you do from Rally or Track driving ?

Any info appreciated.

From my memories of Brands, go for the rally driving. They tell you to go faster. I have been kicked off the normal circuit twice, because they didnt like the way I was driving. Something about going to fast.

I have NEVER been told off on an SIDC track day, and I've done a few.

I wouldn't dare comment about Octogon Motorsport - the parent company has some serious lawyers and don't like dissent.

Also can't comment on the Rallying, as I haven't done either of them.

But, from the point of view of the circuits, go for Brands any day over Silverstone. Brands is still a superb drivers circuit - Silverstone has been compromised for F1 cars and in anything slower has been ruined IMHO.

I did the rallying at Brands Hatch - TOP day, really good instructors and they do push you to go 4 it!

Have done both.

Forest / airfied rallying and Brands track instruction - depends what you want; thrills or something to benefit you on the road.

Brands was superb; excellent instruction (racing Fiesta and FF single seater)- the best money the wife has ever spent ! It really makes a difference to your road craft.

You`ll enjoy whichever you choose.

scrappy, was your day with Octagon ? what cars did you drive ? we have been told the rally one lasts for about 2 hours , is that about right ?
