Don't watch F1 very often any more but just caught the qualifying for wherever this weeks GP is.

What is it with these Formula 1 commentators? As they watch the cars going round and round it's always, "Barrichello" and "Alonso" and "Montoya", "Raikkonen ", "Webber" etc, but when it comes to Schumaker they always say "Michael" this and "Michael" that....

Why are they sooo sycophantic when it comes to Schumaker? After all he is the world's most arrogant **** tosser. Why don't they call him "that bloody cheating kraut Schumaker" instead of "Michael" in that dewey eyed manner?

You should watch Formula 1 - it's more exciting now after going through that very dull patch.

He's called Michael because everybody knows there is only one Michael in F1 - the great champion Micheal Schumacher. If they called him Schumacher using the last name like they do with so other drivers there would be ambiquity as to whether they meant Ralph or Micheal.

They would never be allowed to call him a cheating kraut or anything similiar because that would be racist, nationist or something along those lines.

There are 2 schumachers in f1! so they have to refer to both brothers as ralf and michael-the commentating is brilliant,haven't got a clue what bothers you as for michael schumacher he used to be a **** but has grown up to be a fine driver,recall spain 1997 in the soaking wet where he was quicker than anyone by 2 laps!

Stayed out on slicks in a thunderstorm. Hill came in for wets, caught him up and was unable to pass him for 10-12 laps on a drying circuit. When Hill had to pit again for slicks the race was won Only one which impressed me more was when he spent 15 laps cleaning the off-line into the left hairpin in Portugal. Another 6-8 laps catching back up and then a superb move up the inside which would have seen him slide off and probably take them both out if he hadn't cleaned away the grit and marbles

Went to the testing at Silverstone a few weeks back and seeing them at close quarters, live, and at full chat is astounding. More amazing than the noise is the way they turn in, they seem to defy physics and change direction like a fly

I like Brundle's informative and usefull contribution to the commentry, unlike that anoying git that talks crap all the time.
Saying that though, two opposite types of person will work best together even if I dont want J.Allen there.

He said that during the GP2 race at the Nurburgring a car at the start something along the lines of
"He bogged down terribly, and the clutch didn't seem to bite"

Brundle came out with a beauty a couple of seasons ago, during Quali @ Monaco. Must have been a quiet bit when there were no cars on the track and the cameraman was panning around the crowd. He stopped on a tall tanned lady with long black hair & sunglasses. She appeared to be only wearing a bra on her upper body, and Martin said "Boy, you don't get many of them to the pound!"

Bet he got his **** kicked for it later though

Brundle is quality. I think James Allen is a tit but he does a much better job than I or most other people could do.

Big Schumacher fan here, and I really hope he can overtake Alonso on the last lap to win the Spanish grand prix.

I really hope they are at it tooth and nail with many daring overtaking moves, along with a mid-race downpour and some unpredictable input from back-markers and a late challenge for the last podium place to keep them on their toes 'til the flag

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't find Allen to be the antichrist then

IMHO Allen is knowledgeable and can commentate for 2 hours. What more do you want him to be? Sure hes biased towards Ferrari, but thats not really a sin. If you want him to be impartial, maybe you won't mind if he doesn't speak up the Brit interests either?

Some people have too much time on their hands if they blindly follow (the usually brilliant) Sniff campaign. I have to say its a joke thats wearing a little thin.

But then I guess those are the people that cry "Bring back Murray" clearly forgetting that in the last couple of seasons he was having trouble telling a McLaren from a Ferrari. I guess they also cry "Bring back Turbos" forgetting that the current 2.4 V8's produce more BHP in race spec!*


* Everyone remembers the headline 1500BHP from 1.5 Litre Turbos, but that was grenade 3 lap spec. They ran around 600 BHP during the races. Whereas current engines are 750-800 and 19K

I've also never understood the animosity towards James Allen - sure, I prefer Martin Brundle as I'm sure pretty much everyone does, but Allen does his job competently... I don't see what the problem is?

I'm much less keen on Mark Blundell - his 'expert analysis' is no more insightful than any F1 fan's would be, and the guy who's taken Jim Rosenthal's place is also a bit annoying. What happened to Tony Jardine anyway?!

I'm also a long-time Schumacher fan, though Alonso's OK too. Button seems like a bit of a stroker really, which is a shame. Mclaren are by far the worst team thanks to that miserable, whining @rse Ron Dennis.

No one is perfect in this world and I think the commentators do a pretty good job all round in F1. They are all knowledgeable and do their own bit of the programme very well. Commentating, especailly on a high speed sport like F1 is not that easy.

Schumacher is a brilliant driver of course, no argument there. I do still remember his very poor sportsmanship, particularly in his early days and that still rankles.

To be the best one has to sometimes sacrifice being popular. Tony Jardine was without doubt the best element within the analysis team, possibly helped by being head mechanic at Mclaren at one time.

Just a thought,dont you think it would make f1 more intresting to start the fastest at the back and make them fight there way through? They do this in stock car racing,the more points you have the further down the grid you start.Allways makes good viewing!

His accent, the technical inacuracies all the fecking time, the bias, the pathetic attempt at humour, the bias, the annoying allenisms, missing the blindingly obvious, oh, and the fact that he's a bit of a ****. Did I mention his bias?...he called his son "Enzo" FFS...

Brundle is fantastic. Blundell says it like it is. Ted Kravitz is excellent. There must be someone out there who can do a better job than Allen

At least that prat Rosenthal has gone now, and we've got someone heading up the programme who actually appreciates what it's all about.

Best commentators of the lot are the guys that do Aussie V8 Supercars on Motors TV - they can be properly amusing at times.

As for Allen calling his son Enzo, that is a bit much, Mind you, my daughters middle name is Alesi

I remember when brundle interviewed some US celebrity on the grid (cant for the life of me remember who it was) and brundle asked them what they were up to.
the guy asked if we had desperate housewives (the tv series) in the UK and brundles reply was something like yes we have plenty.

I have met brundle a few times- he is a sound bloke. Back quite a few years ago I saw him at Silverstone at a small F1 test and complimented him on his choice of car at the time (silver 550 maranello) and his reply to me? 'Meh- it's alright. It gets me from A to B bloody fast, so it will do'
Seem to remember he stuffed it not long after that
