Calais: Places to go

Calais: Places to go
Wouldn't normally bother with a Ferry, but the wife has won a prize in a local raffle for a day trip with a car, if we take it before the 30th June.
Dover to Calais.
Seems like a good idea to stock up on booze , but I have no idea of the best hypermarkets etc...
Anyone got any suggestions?

Stay away from Eastenders as its not cheap and its a dirty sh!thole.
Best supermarket by far is the Auchan in bolougne. It's where the Franch shop.Go there then lunch or dinner in Le Matelote on the seafront in Bolougne.

Nausicca is a good half day as well in Boluogne.

Cite d'Europe - which is a huge shopping centre with a hypermarket, and a Tesco wine store
Or Auchan on the outskirts of town... which is a hypermarket with a Sainsburys wine store within the same area..
You'll find that prices very in each, and it really depends on what you go for...
Linky shows a map for Auchan, but also highlights Cite Europe

Or you can do what we did and drive down to Bruge for the day, have a wander, buy loads of lovely chocolate and have a nice lunch, and stock up on booze, and cheese on the way back in Calais

Go to Calais at least once a year, not for booze purposes (not worth it travelling from Scotland I don't reckon) but to visit family there. My cousin lives just along from Cite de Europe and also Auchan etc. There is a Tesco booze shop in Cite de Europe and also a supermarket there (Carrefour I think??)
I like Auchan and love wandering around it looking at all the different products, big selection of booze in there too from what I remember.
