Default 99 VW Golf GTTDI Not Starting

Morning all. My mate has a 99 VW GOlf GTTDI which this morning failed to turn over on start up. The battery voltage is fine and we tried using the spare key but to no gain. There was a prob with the immobiliser some time ago which was sorted but maybe its back again. Is there any way we can check this, anyone know where its located? Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance for replies?

Simon.

Unhappy "If only all things in life were as reliable as a Volkswagen"

Sorry

It's not cranking at all then?

I take it you've measured the battery voltage while ctranking?

When you try to start it, do you hear/feel a click from the starter?

If the voltage IS OK, it could be a stuck solenoid. (Click but no turning).

If no click, and no turning, it could be the imobilser, but sorry, I dunno where it is.

VW Dealer? Got an arm and a leg spare, btw?
