How often do you swear?
Just something I notice of human behaviour, mainly the neighbours, or more so their slapper female friends. My other (non swearing) neighbours aren't too happy as their kids have picked up four new words from over the fence in the space of an hour
To unwittingly swear so often and so liberally is surely a sign of a lower intelligence. The one slapper can't even use swear words in the correct context
But seriously, is a swear word in each sentence , alcohol fueled or not a true sign of typical British idiocy and downfall of the social interaction? Where were teh parents of these people when they picked up this habit, and more importantly how hard was the clip round the ear, or was it ever noticed? Probably not!
Yes sure, everybody swears, in anger or frustration its understandable. But in a "normal" conversation, it has no place. So why do it?

My parents brought me up not to swear, and they too exercised discretion whilst using it. I'm just wondering why other people seem incapeable of the same.
Perhaps if the French and Italians are worse, the maybe we are becomming more continental?

i swear quite alot to be honest but i can control it infront of people and kids and out in public i dont swear at all. I picked it up from my mother lmao so its not my fault, I do get told off for swearing at my age (nearly 20) they say its a bad habit and i shouldnt be swearing at my age when my cousin of 9 years old is allowed to say all the swear words under the sun and my aunty doesnt bat a eyelid or she'll look embarrased and say well he's still upset about his dad dying 3 years ago. she has no diciplin over her kids one is 14 and the other is 9! i'd give them a good slap if they spoke to me the way they speak to their mum!

I very rarely swear as I've been brought up not to. I'm working in an environment over the summer where swearing is in every sentance... it really pi55es me off that people can't control there language... I guess some of these people are the dreggs of society though!

I can go without swearing, I swear when im really angry though, but if theyres litle kids about I can refrain from it. I cant stand people who openly swear infront of theyre kids or vice-versa. I just think what scummy trash.

I thought I swore a lot... then I saw Lisa on BB
I blame it on being from a farming background, everyone swore around me when I was younger.
I do however bite my lip when there are either kids or people I don't know around.
I still have the odd slip up though.

I assumed I swore now and again, but after a few choice words at work earlier this week after i'd messed something up, I had a few surprised faces looking at me. Nearly all the people I work with have never heard me swear, so maybe it's just in my head.

I only used to swear very occasionally but the people i work with swear constantly, and I found I used to swear more and more in normal conversation. It annoys me because then when I'm out with my proper friends I can almost see them cringe when I let out an expletive (and I don't mean to do it), and that embarasses me. I do try really hard though to not swear, but it's always a constant and concious effort.

See? it's a case of one letter. So what? What's to get excited about? They are only words, and words CANNOT hurt.

I have smacked my child ever since he has been old enough that he knows he has done wrong.
I now have a polite and well behaved young lad
The threat of a smack is more than enough, and cant rememebr the last time he actually was smacked

Yes that is usually enough for most children. As a youngster I was always terrified of getting into trouble with my dad and thus was generally well behaved, or didn't get caught!( ). I try to instill the same virtues in my own children politeness, consideration for others and doing well at school.(Although they seem to be adept at not getting caught too!).
