Default holiday music

You when you just cant think of more than 5 bands that you actually like? Well Im there. I downloaded 100's of tracks for my holiday the other week and still got sick of them all (10 hours worth of delays and a 3 hour train journey before I even got on the beach )

So now Im trying to think of more music that I like (for my next jaunt ) and I've run out of ideas...

So far we have Queen, Def Lepard, U2, Simple Minds, Stone Roses, Prince, Beatles, Madonna, Sugar babes, Wonderstuff...

If we could keep this thread to sensible suggestions rather than ripping the P out of my (lack of) taste in music that would be just lovely*

*some hope

I thought that everyone had those albums in their collection. I believe HMV have starting doing them as gift-sets for a tenner.

Seriously check out Kid Galahad.

You'll need this as well

It's all very well having them in your collection, but remembering to put them in the car is the sticking point.

Massive Attack - Collected will be good if you don't have the other albums. Teardrop is a superb tune amongst stacks of others.

You've got to, at least, listen to samples from Leama & Moor's debut album.

They're well known for their trancier remixes (Britney Spears, Paul Oakenfold, etc.), but this album is a musical masterpiece; very chilled, very down-tempo, and perfect for holiday relaxation.

I always like a bit of New Order on holiday for some reason.. Seems all summery and Euro-centric.. Regret, Blue Monday, World in Motion, Temptation etc etc .. all terrific stuff..

HTH.

It's the time of year, now that spring is in the air
When those two wet gits, with their girly curly hair
Make another song, for marronic holidays
that nausiate-ate-ates in a million different ways
From the shores of Spain, to the coast of southern France
No matter where you hide, you just can't escape this dance

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
Paint your left knee green, then extract your wisdom teeth
Form a string quartet, and pretend your name is Keith.

Skin yourself alive, learn to speak araphahoe
Climb inside a dog, and behead an Eskimo
Eat a Renault 4, wear salami in your ears
Cassarole your gran, dis-embowel yourself with spears

The disco is migrating, the sound is loud and grating
It's truly nausiating - let's do the dance again..

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
Yes you'll hear this song, in the holiday discos
And there's no escape, in the clubs or in the bars
You would hear this song, if you holidayed in Mars

Skin yourself alive, learn to speak araphahoe
Climb inside a dog, and behead an Eskimo
Now you've heard it once, your brain will spring a leak
And though you hate this song you'll be humming it for weeks

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
la la la la la la la....

Thank you to all those who contributed (apart from Brendan Hughes, who frankly I am rather scared of now).

I now have a delightfully eclectic mix and shall think of you all whilst basking in the sun and diving into the beautifully clear waters....
