Sony rear projection tele..

i have just got one of these (second hand) it has purple marks on the screen but it is not on the outside screen? anyone come across this problem if so how do you get it cleaned off?

It "should" degauze when you switch it on. Thus the momentary thunk/hum noise they make (made by the degauze coil energizing) when you turn it on by the main power switch (not standby). So if there is no magnetic field nearby (speakers, clocks, cheapy DVD players/VCRs etc, it should clear itself up after a few on off cycles.
Some models do have a degauze option somewhere in the menu - good luck finding it![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Some projection TV's need the geometry re-aligning or "Centre Convergence" (or something like that) if they've been bashed about or moved - again, should be an option in the menu (or in hidden installer's menu) .

my rear projector has gone slightly out of focus on the right hand side.
It happened after we moved it downstairs however I was bloody careful when we moved it and it wasnt knocked or owt.
Dop I need the convergence thingy also then?

You will if its a CRT rear projection screen, yes. Convergance isnt an issue for older Sony LCD projection screen televisions because they use a single LCD panel.
