Angry THEIVING *****!!!

ive been out in my car and had my sat-nav stolen while i was in it!!!

i am so angry and am still shaking with fear!

i was in traffic and had my window down when four black guys walked behind my car, one of them reached in and pulled the unit out of its holder. i always have my door locked while i am driving but didnt think about the window. the police said that there isnt much they can do, they just gave me a crime reference number and told me to be more carefull in future

i dont know if i am covered undrer the car insurance, but i dont think so

i have never been so scared in my life. i thought something else was going to happen when i saw a black arm shoot through my car window

i am gutted as it cost over £500
my first instinct was to chase after them but my car was full of sand so i wouldnt have got far anyway and i dont know what i thought i could do

my day just gets better and better

On the plus side you still have your car and your life. They could have gripped your neck instead of the satnav.

What is this country coming to?

Sorry to hear about your SatNAV, but at least you are ok though, could have been worse, but that doesn't really make you feel any better I guess.

That sucks, Sat nav is the new mobile phone to the scum and druggies that steal to feed habits and like nice toys - but do not want to earn them!

Mobile units usually mounted to the screen in fiull view and unlikely the driver will be able to do anything about it.

At least you are OK.

Do not let it get to you.

For those who do not think we need more cops on the streets - wake up to the UK in 2006!

i had a cry when i got home as i was so shaken up. it was the only time i didnt take my phone out with me. all the cars stopped when it happened but no one dared to go after them, they were prolly armed or something. i have been able to stop the unit working so its no good to them now
i feel very lucky i wasnt car-jacked or anything, i think they chose to leg it on foot rather than take my yello scoob.
has this happened to anyone else?

I think satnav units are becoming the most stolen items from cars these days I thought it was only in petrol stations though and not in traffic Not nice

Take it as a lesson in personal safety and keep your windows up. No air con? Buy a car with it and stay safe.

Sorry to hear about the satnav, but at least you weren't injured or the car damaged, they smashed my drivers window to take mine.

I suspect a lot more of thefts like this will happen in traffic queues/at traffic lights with the warm weather as people drive with their windows down.

This type of post is why my car has 'Supaglass' treatment, sad state of affairs or not the reality is that others want to take what's yours and it's up to you to stop them or be a victim.

yeah, all of them. i couldnt really give a good description as they all looked really scruffy and dirty. nothing stood out that was recognisable. the police said they were prolly crack heads. what really pissed me off is when i bought the sand there was a police vehicle outside toysrus and it looked like they were doing the crossword. 20 minutes later this happened and i cant help thinking that if they had been doing their job, showing a police presence it may not have happened

<sighs>

This is a sad sign of the times!

Back in 2001 i was caught speeding i was sat in the back of a plod car being shown what a naughty boy i was doing 46 on a 40 dual carriageway a call came over their radio to report a taxi driver being mugged about a mile from our location. Ho-hum!

The more people get away with this sort of crime, not caught and unpunished the more low-lifes will see this as fair game.

Tough on crime - tough on the causes blah, blah!, you can spin the figures anyway you want but i do believe this sort of thing is on the increase.

Sara

You really aren't having much luck these days are you?

Sorry to hear about your sat Nav being nicked. At least it was just the Sat Nav though. Thing could have been much worse (if they wanted the car).

Smashed any mirrors in the past 7 years ???

Don't know where your incident was but sorry to hear it.

If ever I venture anywhere near Birmingham City Centre its windows up,doors locked, look straight ahead.Feel very intimidated.Especially down the Soho rd.No use pretending to be hard when the traffic does 2 mph.

Sara,

with the sort of day you're having I'd leave the pool til later on in the week - you'll probably put a nail through the bottom of it or drown one of your neighbours dogs and have the coppers arrest you for animal cruelty .

Have a glass of wine and think of the b@stards when they sell it on to one of their mates and get a good kicking when it doesn't work !

Whilst not inciting paranoia one cannot be too careful! A few years ago I went to work, parked the car on the pavement as I always did with the engine running. I got out to unlock the gates to our yard, as I opened the second gate I saw a man run to the side of the car (driver's side) get in and wheelspin off. This was at half seven in the morning and the last thing I expected. The car was subsequently used in a ram raid and an armed robbery where they stole twenty thousand pounds and put a fifty two year old guard in hospital. I got the car back a week later burnt out! Now I am always looking over my shoulder at petrol stations and when parking anywhere.
