Default Who Keeps Calling ??

Three or four times a day we keep getting a phone call that when you answer it , it just goes dead. It dosnt matter who in the house picks up the call it still goes dead.

I've tried to call the number back, but theres an automated message which says "this number dosnt accept incoming calls"

the number is 0207 3954698

does anyone have any idea what or who it could be?

Cheers

Phil

It's probably a call centre - they use auto-diallers and if all their operators are busy it just hangs up when you pick up the phone.

Ring BT up and ask them to bar these types of calls.

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

You could add you name to this. It makes it illegal for telesales people to call you.

I found that after a while, it does work.

cheers guys. I registered with TPS a year or so ago and all has been fine until now.

Regards the car. Had a few enquiries, one from a lovely sweet african widow who wanted to pay me $11.2 million for the car as long as I would go meet her in madrid and tell her solicitor I was her next of kin

I've just put the car on autotrader & piston heads, so hopefully that will drum up some interest

Cheers

Maybe not so off topic

I was selling a car the other week (on autotrader) and I got a couple of strange calls which were hung straight up after ringing. I did a google search on the dialling code and it was a premium rate number and was obviously done so that you call it back I called o2 about it and they called both numbers and they claimed to be peoples voicemails since the advert stopped so have these calls A coincidence?

yeah, i've had a couple of these types of calls.
i just ignore them, its better than someone trying to sell you double glazing, while your tucking into your dinner!!!

oh, and the amount of mobile calls i get from people claiming to be calling on behalf of orange and asking questions, that anyone at Orange would already know the answer to!!!! - muppets!!!

i just make the conversation as long drawn out and awkward for them as possible, until they think they are on the brink of a sale, then i pull out a show-stopper comment and disappoint them!!! LOL (its their phone bill, after all!!!) - mind you, i only do this when i have nothing better to do!!!

cant wait for the next one....

This is like the twilight zone! . The lengths people will go to to perpetrate a scam goes from the sublime to the ridiculous. . Did you get your registration plate woes sorted Paul? Again a bit off topic or maybe not!

It does all seem a bit odd but maybe I am being cynical

No number plate yet, waiting for her to get the plate on retention and register it on IOM plates

I rarely answer withheld numbers, and then when people claiming to be from phone companies ring i tell them i've only just upgraded which kills their line of enquiry

Had this too a few weeks ago. A Reading number , same scenario ....eventually, after calling the number and getting various messages, someone was there one day when it dialled me. I really laid it on , made out I felt I was being stalked and on the edge.... said they shouldn't play mind games with folks like this..... the girl was most apologetic and was soon off the phone, haven't had any more calls since. Plonkers.
