Just restore from your last backup ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
But failing that, Ontrack Data Recovery will sort you out www.ontrack.co.uk, but it may cost a few bob.

Spookily enough I work in the same building as Ontrack in fact they are in the same corridor opposit to us!
About a year ago a client of ours had a problem with one of their hard disks which we got ontrack to fix and I seem to remember it was roughly £2500.
Probably a bit expensive just to get back your email address book and your highscore for Quake!!

It really depends on what the fault is. If it's not obviously mechanical (i.e. it's not making scraping/motor noises) you could try getting hold of an identical drive and swap the controller.
If the drive isn't spinning at all, or spinning but not being recognised it's probably the controller at fault.
As long as you can get hold of a drive, swapping the controller is normally simple as modern drives don't use soldered connections, although some manufacturers use "secure" screws which need a Torx driver or similar.
Alternatively, if it's worth spending money you could try the place suggested above or these guys who one of our clients used recently.
