There's a snake in me garden !!
My eldest son came running into say he thought he saw a snake, but looked like a worm. I said, its probably a worm, dont worry about it.
Went outside to have a look when he insisted and look what I found.....
Its only a grass snake so not bothered, but decided that it wasnt wise that my 3 year old wanted to hit it
went into the neighbours garden, but didnt tell them

I'd rather fight a slow worm than a grass snake anyday
If grass snakes live in the UK I'm sticking to concrete in future

The 3 speicies of snake indiginous to Britain are the grass snake, adder and smooth snake. It is illegal to kill any snake, with a fine upto £5000 and 6 months in prison to any one caught doing so
Slow worms are not classed as a snake but a lizard their diet consists 0f mainly slugs with a few insects thrown in
All my own work

its a slow worm, its a lizard and its a protected species... you can't keep it as a pet... nor can you knowingly destroy its habitat...
if it didn't disappear very quickly i would suggest it was sick or injured... they are usually very illusive...

Deffo a slow worm, we had them in the garden when we lived in Cornwall a few years back.
If you look at it really closely you'll see it has 4 little bumps where the limbs should be, as it's a type of legless lizard.

alright you lot, caught me out, was just having a bit of fun
of course its a slow worm !!!!
I just didnt have the heart to tell my son that it was only a worm, it wouldnt have been so much fun for him to go to his classmates at school and say " oh i saw a worm in my back garden" just dosent have the same cool ring to it.
the bit about me living abroad was true and yes i do know the difference between the two, it was just he looked so amazed at it...cant get anything past you lot
