Where does your job figure in the earnings league?
Average earnings across all jobs were £28,210 in 2005, according to the figures from the Office for National Statistics. So where does your job rank?

Mind you I get paid more then then the listed figure but still not enough for the crap I've had for this week alone.

I have no idea why I'm doing the job I do for *that* money with all the crap that goes with it when I could be doing one of *those* jobs for the same money

Sfunny pissy? for someone who claims to be an professional engineer, they dont do that well, i seem to recall your boasts about earning 80K yet according to that it, max's at about £37k bit of a shortfall i,d say, or is it just your walter mitty alter ego again??

Agree but that is the average and I'm surprised people are practising Law for much less than that.
Lawyers in London will be on high 5 figures just as a junior.

Well that does make me want to change career, but according to this lawyers dont seem to be getting all that much these days.

Surprised there is only one rating over six figures. And number one is more than twice number two
In terms of 'lawyers' there are oodles of conveyancing solicitors earning peanuts for every London based Corporate Arbitrage adviser.

PS My old profession is on there but not my new one

So, I assume that a greasemonkey could say to the survey that he is an Engineer on £13,000?? A proper Engineer says he is on £60,000 .... the average comes down. Proper Engineers wouldn't get their Slide-Rules out for less than £60k I would hazard a guess??

I would agree with the average Engineers salaries. Hubby is a fully qualified Mechanical Engineer (and Chartered) and was earning over £30K in County Durham (Just a few months ago) He was very well paid for where we lived.
Since the move to Japan - He's now a manager & his level of work has more than tripled, but so has his salary! But that is the life of a fully expensed contracter and for moving half way round the world!
The average for a Engineering manager in the UK would be about the 45 -50k mark.
However this is refering to the professional Engineering catagory, not just someone calling themselves and 'Engineer'!
