Watched the film "Kingdom of Heaven" last night and there was a scene where an Muslim man got ice out of a box (He was in the middle of a desert with his army) and put it in a glass.
How would they have made ice so many years ago?? And in a desert??
It was based during the crusades of the 12th century
Thanks in advance

Used to be ice houses all over the shop. You can still see evidence of them at large houses in this country today. They'd be dug down into the ground and used to store up ice in the winter, then it was used as required throughout the summer. As for desert locations, I'm guessing similar places were constructed and the ice brought in from the mountains .

Great reply, thanks
One more question. Seen it a few times today, what's "Yve" stand for these days?

Now doing a "Yve" Sn Search it makes sense, didn't put Apparition and Yve together.

Yve is short for Yvonne. Pronounced Eve. Spent most of my natural thinking my name couldn't be shortened then met t'other half and he started calling me Yve and its stuck . Quite like it now.
Thanks for the interest. That'll be two ice cubes with that please !
