Red Bull Air Race - What tThe F***!!!!
Just got back from reb bull air race, well from the Q to get there anyway!!!!
Quede For 6 hours and never got there what a load of S**t! Well unhappy!
Sittin in Car for 11 hours aint much fun.
What was going on? Did they have any sort of gate system or was it just find the smallest road and send 100,000 people down it!!!!
We were heading for blue car park. Never got near really then eyerone started turnin round and going home, what a total waste of time and money!!!
Ended up messin round on road coz we were not movin anywhere, along with about 500 other people near us!!!!! everyone out of cars. Also saw a crash which was probably the highlight of the day!!! No one seriously hurt though!!!
Wont be going back there again!!!!!

I live in Westbury and the main road from the M4 to the show at Longleat comes straight through the middle of the town. I felt sorry for everybody I saw sitting in the queue knowing that it would still take an age to get to Longleat fom here.
There's been a lot of debate about a Bypass for the town but nobody can decide if it should go ahead and if so whether to the east or the west of Westbury.
You can thank the Tree huggers for your delay.

what a complete mess, the roads were grid locked by people going & people deciding to turn around and head home.
10hrs in the car & only travelled 220 miles
never again

went last year, no problem getting in but left early to get out. Cant say i was overly impressed with the location & views. The best bits on the hill were cordened off and marshalls kept sending people away. was ok for a one off experience

you don't wanna know how much that must have cost them!!
my company supplied the cabins and stores for the event and it cost them £25k + VAT... Longleat was closed to the public too - that must have cost a bit!! the bill must run into millions...

Not being funny or anything, but did anyone stuck in the traffic jams tune into the local radio stations to find out what was goin on?
I would have thought that local radio would have traffic reports and also mentioned the fact it had been cancelled.

Of course, still at 4pm the radio stations were insisting that the event had not been cancelled & that it was due to start at 4 - 4:30pm. So people who had been advised of the event being cancelled, who had decided to go home, were infact joining the long line of traffic once more.
In the total time I had been waiting in traffic not once did I see an event official or a police officer.
Some people were running out of fuel & lots of the near by garages were over-run by folks buying petrol, a very near disaster for the villages & communities that surround Longleat.
The hedges & verges along the routes were turned into toilets, what a mess..

i was just glad i went down in the camper not car-cost a few quid more but worth it for the on tap coffee etc-got to within 3 miles before giving up and going home.
Queues from about 5 miles in doing half a mile an hour.
I wonder if they used the weather as an excuse to cancel the event to avoid a shedfull of abuse over the traffic chaos.

Have a look at the thread on Pistonheads - seems many people suffered the same problems. Not the best piece of advertising for Red Bull.

I also saw that incident, i think what he meant was for a whole day stuck in the car a crash was the only piece of action seen by many, i really dont think that he was being sick about it.
anyway the crash that was mentioned was a chap on a moped that was going up the centre of a duel carriage way that was rammed with stationary cars and people doing about 15-20mph, a car door was opened and he hit it. An ambulance came along with a police van and 4x4, the guy was taken in the ambulance but he didnt seem to be hurt to much.
