FAO Miss Kinky
I went to a specialist reptile place earlier, they happened to have a 4 month old Albino Burmese in, they let me have a hold, she was soooooo gorgeous!!!
I was gutted to have to leave her there because I couldn't accommodate her when she's full size, a real beauty she was too
Tried my Royal on his first chick today, took it no problem, which I was surprised at with him never having one before! He took a while to get it's head the right way to eat it, but once he had it the right way, he was off!! He hid in his pot and ate the rest of it

Fantastic about the Burmese - they are truely beautiful
I baby sat 2 Burmese - one of which was 18 feet long. Wish I could have kept him...
Be careful with chicks. I fed my boa on chicks and the vet said it may have been claws and/or a beak that caused an injury that led to an internal infection. Unfortunately by the time we realised he was ill it was too late and although the vet gave him antibiotics we were unable to save him
I love watching snakes feed - its fascinating...

That's really sad I did think about the beak TBH And the claws are sharp, if they scratch the inside, I guess they could cause a nasty injury
I don't plan to give them to him too often, as I know there's not a lot on them for a meal (so to speak)
I love watching mine eat too, once he has struck, he holds it a while, coiled around the mouse, then slowly un coils himself and moves his mouth over the head, takes a while but is something I never get tired of watching
I really wish I could have given a home to this one today, she was gorgeous, was really chuffed they let me have a hold of her

LOL
I should get some newer pics of mine really, I saw two Royals yesterday and they were so tiny in comparison to mine, I was surprised how much he has grown!!
There was one of these there too, don't know much about them, but the lad said he was so friendly He really cares for the animals they sell, it wouldn't surprise me if he gets attached to some of them before they are sold

if your feeding chicks just remove the legs first, the beak is generally taken first and will go down without any probs, you can also take the wings off just to be safe. its them and the legs that can cause problems

I noticed when he struck, he had the neck and it took him a while to get to the head but he got there, the beak pointing right to the back of his throat, so looked like it would go down OK. I will remove the legs next time though, I'm not taking any chances, as he seemed to enjoy it, would be a shame not to treat him to the odd snack now and then
The bodies are quite fat compared to the head etc, I hope he didn't struggle too much with the rest of it, as I couldn't see when he went inside his pot. I assume he crushed it as he was swallowing

As for those Americans feeding the snakes: prize prats; by all means study your animal taking its prey, but we could really do without the offensive frat boy commentary and the feeling that they actually liked watching the mouse die!!

Yes Gene, they are bought frozen, pre killed. I would never EVER feed him live prey.
It's kinda odd lookin at these really cute little mice and chicks, but at the end of the day, it's his natural food and he has to eat and they are already killed for the purpose of feeding

its no worse feeding mice to the snake than it is for a human to eat meat...
