Condolences to his family, but it was only a matter of time the way he taunted dangerous wild animals

do we know if he was taunting the sting ray though??

agree, he did have his crazy moments, aka the holding his baby in one arm whilst feeding crocodile episode, but sounds as though it was just a tragic accident. dived loads of times with sting rays and they are big buggers..always wary of them.

sad news regardless

innit, but the only bad thing about this is the fact that when you live that sort of lifestyle you dont usually die of old age.
shame though, I liked him.

Wonder if Rob Bredl (Barefoot Bushman) will 're-evaluate' his career choice after this?............

She does now, the police took hours to find her as she was trekking. I couldn't believe the news at firsrt, but in some ways it isn't that surpising considering what he did and how he did it. He will be a big loss to conservation and the world of wild life documentries. R.I.P

I doubt it, Steve Irwin stopped the Australian gov't plans to turn the Northern Territories into a "crocodile hunting for sport/rich people" zone, and also ran his reptile zoo that helped to look after them, he never actually killed any reptiles you know, despite being the "crocodile hunter"

A sad loss, and even more so that he leaves his 2 kids behind

Great loss. He did a HUGE amount for animal conservation. My son will be gutted!
I was at his zoo in Queensland last year, and saw him whizzing about on a moped with one of his kids on his lap. Nice guy with time for anyone.

Tragic, but at least he won't be able to put his kids in danger for a show any more.

If you believe my Australian relatives, his antics over there, especially with his kids, didn't endear him to as many folk as the media would have you believe.
