do we know if he was taunting the sting ray though??
agree, he did have his crazy moments, aka the holding his baby in one arm whilst feeding crocodile episode, but sounds as though it was just a tragic accident. dived loads of times with sting rays and they are big buggers..always wary of them.

Such a sad Loss, what he did with Croc's Crikey, scared the life out of me, at least he died doing what he loved, Condolences to Terri and his 2 children

wow, was watching Austin Stevens on friday and ended up chatting about Steve Irwin and how much of a great guy he is. Real shame. Least he wasnt eaten by a croc.... Sounds like a freakish accident though.

Great loss. He did a HUGE amount for animal conservation. My son will be gutted!
I was at his zoo in Queensland last year, and saw him whizzing about on a moped with one of his kids on his lap. Nice guy with time for anyone.
