Classic Horror films
Come on, whats the favourite horror films, I have not seen many since being married as the wife skulks off looking worried whenever anything spooky comes on, which is bizarre as she will watch stuff about death and murder, real or imaginary all day long without batting an eyelid, she can just about cope with Ghostbusters apart fromt he old lady in the library at the start.
So, I reckon the heyday of the horror film was the eighties, loads of gore and crap production values, its all got a bit slick and psychological nowadays.
So I nominate,
The original Dawn of the Dead, remake was ok but didnt capture the spirit of the original.
Now this is my favourite ever, more comedy than horror, just so wrong !
Return of the living dead and Part 2 - Brains BRAINS !
Poltergeist, often seen as a bit tame and mainstream but it scared the **** out of me as a kid and still does !
Nightmare on Elm street series, got a bit played out but still worth a mention.
Hellraiser, just plain weird but very scary.
Honorary mentions to Ghostbusters 1 and 2, plus The Lost Boys, not horror per se but of the same theme.
Oh and anything else that scares you, e.g. as a kid the Morlocks from Journey to the Center of the earth, the cremation scene for Diamonds are Forever put the wind up me big style aged 10.

I was only talking with my wife at the weekend about how non-scary horror films are nowdays - they're all 15's as its all about making money!
One of the most scary I remember was Prince of Darkness.

Although the only horror film that scared me was the black and white Invasion of the Body Snatchers. That affected me psychologically in that I wouldn't go to sleep because if someone put a pod in my room whilst sleeping and it took me over, would I know I was me when I woke up?
