The yanks provided us and shipped us a lot of steel/material to build our fighting machines, as well as the sheer numbers of troops.
from speaking to veterans at various events they believe we wouldnt have won it without the yanks support.I think I support that view.

The American's provided huge numbers of men and equipment in all theatres of WW2.
I doubt it could have been won without them and even Churchill knew that.

On manpower and logistical support they helped us turn the tide, without them I think we would have been overrun. It could have all been so much different though, as during Americas infancy they took a vote on what should become the national language and the result was 49.5% German, 50.5% English. If the US had become a German speaking nation how different would things have been

The machines and war materials provided prior to 1941 were not "free", they were provided on a lend lease arrangement.
The event that probably helped us more was Germany's mistake in attacking Russia despite their anti aggression pact. If Hitler had concentrated on the west before turning against the East the war would have been over(for us at least) well before the US joined.

One things for sure though. If germany had won the war, we wouldn't have the problem with imigrants we seem to have.
Just a thought. Ich danke Ihnen (I thank you)

Actually, to contradict myself I have just researched (Googled ) the subject and the vote on English/German in the US is actually a myth known as the Muhlenberg Legend. I stand by my comments on the manpower and logistics though.

Another intersting thought.
Before WWII America was NOT a Superpower. Without them getting involved, America would certainly not be the force they are today. In fact without America getting involved in the War, German would probably be ruling the world.

Fact 1: We paid top dollar for all American equipment under the lend-lease act. Only in recent years have we finished paying for this
Fact 2: The USA didn't join WW2 even after the Pearl Harbour attack they still didn't. Hitler actually declared war on the USA which dragged them in.
Hearsay: IMHO, Roosvelt had the intention of using WW2 to dismantle the British Empire and replace us with the USA as top dog. Looks like he succeeded.

Agreed, or it would have been a toss up between Germany or Russia. The Americans were desperate to capture all the top German scientists as the war came to a close, and those scientists are the main reason that America became a superpower. People like Oppenheimer, Einstein and Von-Braun were in great demand by both soviet and american governments. If they'd decided to surrender to the russians instead, the world would be a very different place now!

We still owe them approx £225 Billion from WWI though while the UK is currently owed about £104 Billion from other countries from the early part of the 1900's.
