Work Sponsership forms!
Just had the first scumbo come round with a sponsership form at my new work! I really hate that. £5 down the swanny for doing some menial task which is usually enjoyable for the participant. If I have to pay £5 in sponsership I want to know they suffered to their very core for it! I remember my mate got us to 'sponser' **COUGH** pay for him to do a skydive!! WTF!!!!!!!!!! I really want to do a Ferrari experience day guys any chance you'll sponser me to do it cause I'll be really scared doing 90mph sideways in a £127,000 car!!!!
God! £4.5 of my money will go to lining the pockets of those involved in the 'admin' and if I'm lucky most of the remaning £0.50 might make it towards improved water supplies for some african kid! It's likely the week after its installed some 3rd world industry lord will pollute the bloody thing anyway!
These people need to be shot - you don't see me going around the building with a little tin saying, 'really struggling to get money for doing my flat up so will you sponser me on my ****-a-thon for £5'
Also, have you ever noticed how the sneeky b@st@ards always go to some hippy well paid manager who bungs in £30 and makes everyone else feel progressively guilty. If you are the 300th person on the form you MIGHT get away with a £3 contribution if others before you have chanced their mit by knocking a £1 off here and there.
WHAT A JOKE!!

I totally agree Saxo Boy... I was cajoled (sp) into sponsoring some geek who was doing the Manchester - Blackpool bike ride a few months ago... I thought the same - cheeky tosser!!
It's almost as bad as women bringing in their new borns for all the other women to coo over
As for the spellling lessonss in NSR, it has two stop

Why not follow my example and just tell them that you hate all mankind and therefore won't be sponsoring whatever it is they're touting?
Plus perhaps the spelling lessons would end if people try using this

I FECKIN HATE IT when women bring in their newborn things and EXPECT everyone to fall over themselves congratuating them for..... Having a ****.... yep that's all they've done.. they've had a couple of ***** about 9 months ago... that and a few months of sitting around like a fat bitch doing sweet FA!

Paul that's all very well and good on you: there is something you wanted to do and you got off your **** and did it - there should be more people like that in the world. However, I hope you didn't intimidate people into sponsoring you (by intimidate I mean they risk ridicule in front of workmates if they appear tight).
As a further aside a 250 mile cycle is actually pretty hard going and I've got all the time in the world for stuff like that. Example is that Little Britain guy that swam the English Channel - top marks But flying round the office looking for £5 for you to 'walk a mile' for aids victims is hardly difficult! If they resolved to walk the mile on their hands with nails rammed through them then I might consider it a feat worth sponsorship. As is stands I see most sponsorship as absolutely laim (or worse yet enjoyable) and is tantimount (sp?) to begging. It's arguably worse than those f*ckers that stick plastic tins under you nose when you are out shopping!

Fully agree. I give to Three charities which I choose to each month. Every week i get emails or people coming around at work to try to get me to sponsor them. Currently got a good friend who's BF is doing the great north run trying to get me to sponsor him. I only feckin sponsored him last month for some bike ride! The mimimum amount to give now seems to average £5 as well!
My mum's the director of a very large national charity and i know full well how much money actually goes to the cause and which charities take a massive cut for their admin/swish fancy HQs and i certainly don't ever give to those particular ones....although it seems the majority of the population do because they have no idea!

I do one event a year, and even then feel bad about asking people, I find the whole task of asking for money a bit embarrassing TBH.
I certainly wouldn't do it more than once a year (it's a bit like sex really)!

Just thinking and i had 4 different girls i know ask me to sponsor them for the race for life this year. I just gave money to the first and and the others i explained, appologised and pointed them to the webpage of the first one that showed my donation.
Definately getting out of hand now mainly because of the online/webpage sponsor system that makes it so easy for people to just email everyone in their address book with the details.
