Why has F1 managed to survive so long? The worlds most boring form of motor sport. Many years ago J.Clarkson said, when asked about all the pit stops, 'it's like deciding the outcome of a football match on who can eat their oranges the fastest at half-time'.
I am a complete car nut but I think the most exciting, skillful & commited people are now in MotoGP.
They also have the most gifted individule in any form of motor sport,Valentinio Rossi.
Fantastic action all the way!
Any one else agree?

They need to get rid of the aerodynamic aids, give them big skinny tyres, no electronics and as much horsepower as they want, oh and all drivers must have impressive facial hair like massive sideburns or a handlebar tache, for which they get points.

Nice clip- the good old days
Moto GP is proper racing though- highly enternaining this year and down to the wire- the yamaha is clearly not the fastest bike out there.
BTCC has entertained me too though it is in danger of turning into stock car racing anytime soon. Non contact my ****

The problem with F1 is the rules regarding the Aero they can run on the car. Currently the car behind gets in the dirty air of the car in front, and then lose grip. Change the rules regarding Aero, and bring back slick tyres, and we'll see overtaking again.
Sadly they won't though. They changed the rules, as they stated the cars were cornering too fast, thus endangering lives
They've proposed new Aero packages to the rear wings to enable the car behind to get better grip, but this has been put back for another few years, sadly.

Stilove: I agree with you about WRC ,but I was thinking of other track related motor sports in relation to F1 .i.e overtaking ,action & excitement troughout the race.MotoGP
has the best overall value for me & I just love the camera angles taken from on the bikes.

yeah moto gp fottage is awesome to watch.
f1 is just to many rules and regs, gone are the days of them being test beds for new tech, such as abs, active suspension, 6 wheels (front 4 small ones steering ).
just same old same old, and getting more and more strict.
used to love watching whoel races, tend to go and watch other things now when main rac is underway.
BTCC is pretty good fun to watch, they actually nock each other off the track lol

to be fair any and all wrc drivers could do that, everyone of them are very very good drivers the differences between the top and bottom man is very small even if the times re different by alot, same with all forms of motorsport including f1 and moto gp.
the ability of the driver to push that extra inch makes all the difference

One thing I notice from the clip is how much room they give each other to race. No blocking, forcing each other off the roads, closing the door. Cannot see that happening in current F1.
For great racing see BTCC around 93/94 - but then I am biased
Or some of the Sierra Cosworth RS500 BTCC races from around 1990, Rouse, Soper, Gravett, Harvey - too much power and too little grip - fantastic.

Yep F1 is sooo boring, mind you check out ESPN Classic on Sky they have loads of old sporting stuff on there, footie and tennis from the 70s and 80s and they had a 1973 grand prix on the other day with hunt, stewart et all and that was pretty good with the late raymond baxter doing the commentary.
Happy days!
