I left home one Sunday night for a meeting the following Monday and felt naked without mine. Had to ask the hotel reception to give me a wake up call but they said they didnt do them anymore as some guy missed his flight because they had ****ed up the call!! I couldnt send the wife a text before I went to sleep.....Im sweating now thinking about it.

-tools, settings, connection, packet data conn. - set this to 'when needed'
-on the main screen on the phone (not in a call), hold the end call button- this will end the permanent orange data connection that is activated every time you turn the phone on
- if you never use video calling, then tools, settings, network, and change network mode to 'gsm'(phone will restart) Everything else works just the same-including the net browser. Just means you cant video call in this mode. I discovered this while in the US, as it kept searching for a 3G network (which of course dont exist in the US), and as it was constantly searching it was draining the battey in half a day- as opposed the 24 hrs (wow

I rarely (if ever) carry my mobile and if I do, I never answer it
I hate it to death and only use if for emergencies (ie. when out motocross riding by myself). When I think about it, before I had one, people used to ring me at home or work, oh wait, they still do

I would say life demands you have a mobile!!!
These days people are that busy, work further away from home so need to be in contact or be contactable to arrange meetings, nights out and to speak to my mum who never knows where I am from one day to the next.
Also it is cheaper to have a mobile these days then a landline or it is for me.

Because 99% of people have a mobile now not having one would mean that you would be socially excluded a lot of the time, at least in my social circle where a lot of friends are on the road all day and do not have home phones. I am very seldom at home myself and can't take personal calls on the work phone as it would engage important phone lines. (but it's fine to use a mobile for personal calls whenever).
Being on call for work would mean sitting at home and not being able to go out all weekend!
Oh, and what ^^^ he said too
