And you'd never do anything for attention.... say 2 staged walkouts from Scoobynet for example, would you TurboDrama!

He tried to overdose on a cough remedy and hayfever pills?? The cold remedy doesn't even contain paracetemol, which an OD of could quite easily kill you. Surprise, surprise. unless he was trying to kill himself of drowsiness, this was never going to work. The method is all wrong for a male, the suicide note frankly reads more like an advert for the stunt.

This is either a cry for help (lets get give him the benefit of the doubt) as many half hearted suicided attempts are.

OR

A sick stunt to get hits on his web page!

Either way, he needs help!

Dave- kind of an on-line version of what happens when you get a crowd of people at the base of a building with a person threatening to jump from the top. Although many will profess to be horrified, some will be thinking

"I actually hope they do it"

Some even egg them on, although this would be more common on-line due to the detachment and anonymity, i'd suggest.

Rammstein wrote a well observed song about this called "Spring".

Lyrics here:

Yeah, they are depressing!!

Let's lighten the thread up with a kind of related Simpsons gag:

At the funeral of a friend, Lenny is speaking to Bart.

Lenny: "I'll tell you how she died, you know that sign at the fair that says 'Do not stand up' on the rollercoaster?"

Bart: "Yeah"

Lenny: "She overdosed right in front of it!"

I love the Simpsons!

Dave, not actually going to send him a train timetable am I now, the point being that if he actually was trying to off himself he needs a better method, otherwise it was a cry for help.

Besides, mate of mine was a guard, happened every now and again in his time on the Railways, the first one upset him, after that he got progressively more blase about it, if someone is determined to kill themselves in front of a train there is sod all the driver can do about it.

i've been on a train where someone has thrown themselves under it.
didnt know what was happening at the time, but the driver slammed on, sounded the horn then we heard something kicking up the gravel on the railbed.
The train came screeching to a halt, then the driver came into the passenger compartment.
His eyes were like Goldfish bowls
the strangest thing to happen was the air ambulance turning up.
What for? help them sweep up the chunks?
astraboy.

I well recall waiting for a tube on the central line, when the announcment came that services were suspended because of a "person under a train" as they referred to it.

The reaction that was most audible?

"Bloody suicides, they're so selfish, now I'm going to be late for my meeting!"

Someone deems life bad enough to want to end it all by throwing themselves in front of a train, you think that'd put things in perspective wouldn't you?

We're a sad species sometimes you know!

Perhaps a service on a disused line just for suicides ?

I had a game called Suicide Express on the Commodore 64.

Heard about one turning up at Manchester Piccadilly in the seventies, according to my grandad it turned up with most of a head lodged around the buffers, driver hadnt noticed apparently.

Fair enough, I agree there are better way to do it too not that Ive put that much thought into the subject but at least jumping off a building will give similar effects without hurting somebody else

my dads quite high up in the nexus company, which runs our local metro train service, if there was an emergency he was the man in charge of the scene or something (this is going back 10 years or so now) and i do believe he has seen a few heads rolling around train tracks from suicide victims, he never really talks about it for some reason

i think he is much happier these days sitting in the office, amongst other things, telling other people to sweep peoples body parts up

A guy threatened to jump out of hotel window in York a few months ago. The local paper interviewed some of the sad g*ts who stood watching, who were of course horrified when he did jump. Why on earth were they watching then?
