Level 42
J4cko's mate is at Gmex watching Level 42 tonight.
Right in the front row (bit scary for the band)
Any of the older Snetters remember Level 42, I lost my tape of World Machine to Rhiannon Williams of 2C so I missed out but I got to feel her ***** so it wasnt wasted that 5.97 (NSS in Civic Centre)
And I did get it back ten years later when the Cd revolution was in full swing.
Oh how we miss the eighties.

Mike Lindup on Keys (and falsetto vocals!)
Loved Level 42 - got it on my Ipod for the car
Mark King - one of THE few bass players who can sing and play like THAT!! :

Ah - guitar and drums were the Gould brothers..
The founding band members were Mark King (Vocals/Bass Guitar), Mike Lindup (Keyboards/Vocals), Boon Gould (Guitar) and Phil Gould (Drums).
And it was Mark King who came from the Isle Of wight. Strange place to launch a musical career - amost unique I'd say.

Me too
and dare I say it Vinyl too somewhere
Wonder if Mark still does the flying across the stage whilst playing bass, attached to that harness he used to use
IIRC he started out as a drummer, and only started playing bass when he was about 19

Yes Level 42 are still going. They did a gig in Germany earlier this year with Midge Ure.
Problem for me is I know who most of the 80's and early 90's bands are, but haven't a clue on the new crop. Not good for someone that works as a music photographer.
Since getting digi cable, I've had a regress and most of the time you can find an 80's band on the music channels

It was at the lowry in salford.
They were brill we were right at the front.
It was amazing watchin him play the bass guitar.
all the band was good, there was a few nutty women still following them after all theses years. I have never seen so many mid 30's guys with a paunch in one place at one time. it was liek a bus drivers convention but without the sideburns.
car park was full of capris, (joking)
kenny thomas was superb, he was good enought to be the headline nevermind the warm up. it was the first time me and andrea have been out on our own without the kids since i can remember, really enjoyed it

They toured last year as well.
'Something about you' was the song that got me onto them, and I still love that song today! Have a signed set list by Mark as well - his bass playing is fantastic!

Pontificating
I have loads of their early stuff at home, although I probably haven't listened to any of it for about 15 years.
Mark King was/is a slap bass legend.

Not really my thing. I used like The Cure at the time Level 42 were around, so the two didn't really mix.
