On the 23/09/98 while at work I took some rubbish to a central 'shopping centre' rufuse area, unfortunately I slipped over on some oil and hurt my foot.
The accident I had was very serious and I was signed off work for nearly 3 months, in this time I had many courses of physio.
I rang an accident help line who in turn advised me of a solicitor.
Over the past 3 years I have seen an 'Orthopaedic Surgeon' several times. He has confirmed to my solicitor and myself in a statement:
1 Wrenching of the tarso-metatarsol joint
2 The pain will continue and I will have to continue ultra sound and injections.
3 Remain an irritation and reduce my sporting activity.
This accident happened when I was 30 years old, since this date I am unable to wear shoes with a heel on or with no support. I have not been skiing and when I am on holiday the heat causes pain and also the cold hurts my foot.
Costs incured to me during this time have mounted up. I was unable to drive so I had to pay for taxis to get my son to nursery and when I went to the hospital, doctors or to collect medicine, also general food shopping was very difficult. I missed an all exspences paid trip to the med with my job. My electricity and gas bill went up due to me being at home during the day. I had to buy special shoes and pay for medication. The biggest loss was my salary, I was only being paid statuary sick pay not earning any bonus also I became ill in the same 'sickness year' it was totally unrelated however I was hospitalised and off work for 8 weeks my employer would only pay statuary sick pay. I am unable to claim this back. The total cost put in by my solicitor is a reduced amount of £2800.00.
I have been made an offer under the 'part 36 of the civil procedure rules'. I have until the 20 nov to accept the offer or if I reject it and get awarded the same or less amount I am liable for all the costs.
My offer including the £2800 for an injury that hurts me nearly everyday and will never go away is £5006.
I have been offered £2206 for pain and medication, if I live until I am 65 years old that is £63 a year or 17p a day for pain and medication.
My solicitor is pushing me to accept this offer would you?
Does anyone know anybody that can give me some good advice.
Miss Sunshine.

Miss Sunshine.
I believe your biggest problem is the "Accident Chasers" and their solicitor. You might be better going to a "Proper" Solicitor.
I hope more replies will follow and help. I would never use thise "Scum" companies.

Hi Luke,
Thanks for that, think i should explain a little, but I know what you mean (heard all the rip off stories) but its not through one of those type of claims companies.
I went to CAB and they put me in touch with a solicitor and my claim is funded through Legal Aid.
Hope that clears things up a little bit.
