You should be able to go into add/remove programs and there should be an uninstall for windows xp, there is in mine.
I had to do this a couple of weeks ago and it put every thing back to windows me
hope this helps

Hmm,
Not sure about 2000 -> XP, but when I recently installed XP professional, it informed me that there was no upgrade from my NT4 OS to the new XP.
I had to do a complete install, so no Add/Remove for me. Upgrading from 95, 95 or ME may be different to NT4/2000.

i had a few probs with windows xp aswell i wont go into the exact details but i also decided to uninstall and return to win98 temporarily
1.to un install windows xp go to control panel/ add remove programs/ and click windows xp to remove this should reinstall the back up copy of your previous operating system if you have not deleted it ( you would know if u have or havent)
2. i suggest that before you do this to check www.microsoft.com as customer support told me that they were making a lot of drivers and patches to sort out a few compatability problems and also www.sony.com
good luck

I've avoided XP for a while now. Seems best to wait for things like drivers and such to settle down.
Is it true that older games won't work on it ? My mate was gutted when his Bomberman wouldn't run.

Do you know anyone else with a copy of 2000? If it came preloaded there should be a sticker on the portable or the packaging with the license key on it and you can reinstall from someone elses media using your key.
All the best,

I've had XP Home put onto a brand new machine and it is the dogs nads. I cannot get it to crash no matter what I do and it seems generally better than my experiences with 98/ME.
I did have to download a few drivers for some of my hardware and some of my older games run a bit weird, but aprt from that I can't fault it.
Obviously when I go home tonight it won;t come up and will set fire to my house![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I've done XP for some time now, tho those in the know - know that you always do a fresh install...
Never, never do an upgrade - may seem simple and quick but it leaves you with an untold list of things that dont quite seem right/or work at all..
It's much better to build it up a fresh..

XP is totally unstable (Athlon 1800, Gef3 and SB Audigy) - so gone back to 2000.
Chuck - even if you could do an "uninstall" - yuck. You can't beat a fresh install. I have copies of the win2k CD if you have a key.
