Default Restaurants in Colchester

Just moved to Colchester, and have some friends coming to stay next week. Would like to take them out to a really good restaurant - is there such a thing in Colchester?! Any recommendations greatly received!
Thanks

Hi, The Rose and Crown is indeed good, there are loads of food places in town if you fancy fairly standard pasta type places, eg: Ask on North Hill, Zizzis on Head Street, there's also a Pizza Express behind the town hall. If you don't mind driving and want a bit more quality, there's the Boathouse in Dedham, The White Hart in Nayland, or the Angel in Stoke by Nayland. All really good restaurants.

Just remembered "The Lemon Tree", I've heard that's quite nice, but not been there myself, it's in the town centre though.

Zizzi's is a very good Italian. If you don't mind driving as far as Dedham then try Milsoms, you can't book so get there early, great atmosphere at the weekend.
