yeah i been there quite a few times.

its full of brits living there now. its also got a fantastic golf course called aphrodite hills.

paphos is lovely but the beaches are only average. ayia napa's are great but it is a bit mad there. protaras is about the best place to go and the beaches there are fantastic.

Yeah great place but it was getting invaded by Brits even a few years ago and the seafront reminded me of Southend with the done up cars ragging around

and its the only place where they actually like brits!
they drive on the left everybody speaks perfect english, the signs are in english, they even get a day off for the queens birthday.
Paphos is the nicest part to get married in but the beaches are better in protaras

paphos air port is the worst i have used. resembles prison exersise yards!

i would always use larnaka 10 times better its only just over the hour to drive to paphos anyway.

cyprus is top destination in the med just saying that the east part of it knocks spots off the western bits for that "holiday" feel which is why i go there.

if it was to live there , then paphos would be favoured.

boyfriend's dad has a house out in Paphos and we go out there every year. I really like it- much better for food in Paphos than Ayia Napa. Fat Mama's is one of my fave restaurants just for the atmosphere.

Paphos is the old folks area
All the action is down the Larnaca/Ayia Napa area or even a bit further up towards Farmagusta (though you cant get to it) and Fig Tree Bay where there are some really nice beaches
Paphos has the advantage of being near the trudos (sp) mountains though, so if its a little too hot you just drive up there and it becomes bearable (its also good for skiing in winter
Gatty, if you think pathos airport is bad, never go to Belize City airport, its a pot holed piece of road but the pilot we had did let us have a go of the plane

And for a totally different opinion.... I hated it! Went last month as a friend has a villa there, thought it was absolutely vile - full of irish pubs, karaoke bars, McDonalds and KFC's, and just reminded me of Blackpool!

Beaches were poor, and filthy, and covered in unsalubrious "Brits abroad" types, screaming at their hideous kids, while swigging from warm cans of special brew.

Luckily my friend had left me some pointers for good restaurants - these were all well away from the tourist areas - as we'd never have come across them otherwise.

I would far rather visit one of the smaller Greek islands - in my opinion they are far far better than Cyprus (well certainly Paphos anyway).

you would be forgiven for thinking that about paphos and its beaches but as quoted tony burns famagusta area totally different.

even if you go through vrysoules and over the boarder to spend a few days on turkish famagusta beach is well recommended! just keep looking out to sea as you will fooled into thinking its the carribean not behind as it looks like iraq!

Not if you had 4 kids with you you wouldn't - airport is an airport, you arrive, queue for a plane and **** off.

I did like Coral Bay, whole island seems to be getting destroyed by development with little thought for the environment. Did find the place expensive for fuel/food/entertainment compared to some of the med destinations.

feel sorry for ya! i have 2 nippers (2 and 6 months) all i am saying is larnaka pisses all over paphos airport.... at least you can sit down in relative comfort walk about with ease even ejoy a bit of last miniute shopping?

compared to this dump of country cyprus is very cheap, get into the rural areas and your portions double and the price halved!

but your right they are building EVERYWHERE and its having a negative effect!

however, cyprus holds many many little gems of places to see north and south!
