Planning a holiday to meet a friend who has recently moved to China for work, we've decided to go on a holiday, we've decided to go to Japan and well since i'm out over there we want to see what other countries are worth going to, don't mind a bit of sightseeing, fun and relaxation, anything really, just wanted to know from your experiences really..
setting out to japan next year two mates, we're setting out in feb-march time, just wonder if you guys might have any good places to visit at that time in the year?
My friend has mentioned S.Korea as a place he wants to visit, anyone been there?

Been to Tokyo absolutely loved it plenty of temples and museums to visit.
If you're into football getting tickets for games is so easy and cheap plenty of local teams in Tokyo to go and see (not too sure when their season finishes though).
Food (and beer) is great (Maccy Ds that is appetising),people are friendly, it's clean, public transport is great.
If you want to stay somewhere cheap try a ryokan (like a B&B) the people who run them speak english and can point out areas of interest.
Tokyo is split into lots of areas (Akhibara,Shinjuku, shibuya,Roppongi etc)and they all specialise in specific (eg Akhibara is for electronics)

I lived in the Far East (Singapore) in the 80's for several years and visited most of the countries on business or pleasure.
I would recommend Singapore and Thailand. (Although both are well away from Japan).Only went to South Korea once and was not overly impressed as a holiday destination.
