I use to wear on old leather bomber jacket which was not to thick but flexible and softened the impact a little but i still got wacked on my hand which seemed to be more painful than anywhere else i got hit

Hurts like f*ck, but dont wear too many layers or you'll end up sweating like a Jew in a bank

i'm a paintball marshal at the weekend, tbh it doesn't hurt that much, unless its from point blank range aka within 2m (had a customer shoot me 3 times fromt hat close, boy was i not happy, bet he didn't think marshal were allowed to swear at customers pmsl)

you will get very very hot so i would advise not wearing lots of layers or thick clothing, baggy stuff can help a bit but the best idea is not to get shot lol

Doesn't hurt that bad. I've been hit loads of times and you notice the hit but it's not like you're writhing around on the floor clutching your leg or something

This was the worst hit I ever took. I got shot from about 4 foot away

As far as what to wear, make sure it's fairly lightweight even if it's fairly cold. You will sweat like nobody's business.

Most important tip I would give you is wear boots instead of trainers or shoes. If you're running round in a wood you don't always get a chance to see where you're putting your feet so some ankle support is a good idea

Oh, and wear gloves....as the lad above said ^^ it hurts most when you get hit on the hand.

As for trying to armour yourself up, forget it. Knowing that it's gonna sting is part of the fun of playing paintball. If you're worried about that you'd probably be better off with laserquest

decent fingerless gloves - quite often sites sell them for about £6 and they're well worth it

I've got all my own kit and it's been the gloves that have helped the most (the neck guard probably comes a close second... both of these after the mask of course )

As above, you will get very hot and sweaty. Think along the lines of hill walking. A wicking layer of man-made fabric close to the skin to draw sweat away and allow it to evaporate without becoming saturated like natural fibre do (cotton/wool), an easily removable insulating layer (thin microfleece) to trap heat to allow the evaporation, and than a very baggy outer layer. For the outer layer, paintball places often supply loose camo overalls, so if they do then use them (save you washing the mud and paint off), but sometimes their overalls are bad colours (I once had blue) and you stand out like a belicia beacon. Definately wear boots, preferably waterproof and with ankle support, and some decent socks (Coolmax, or with Tectel liners).

You will really be thankful if you bring gloves, last time I went, i had dark (almost camo)green water proofs and although I was hot and bit sweating by the end of the day, I was able to wipe away some of the some paint from each hit and carry on playing cheating but

we went and wore combats, but where offered coveralls when we got there by the organisers. The ***** don't hurt that much unless it is cold then the ***** start to go hard and really sting at short range, if you are lucky the also do not burst

Just make sure you know your enemy b4 you start, we went once as an infantry platoon, the marshals asked if we had done it before, we all said no (as we hadn't) they wanted to split us up and mix us in with the regulars but we declined their offer and said we were all mates and wanted to stick together, we then proceeded to total anhialte the regular lot who where not amused when we told them who we where

Me and my mate once played with a bunch of army recruits. It was hilarious.

As soon as the whistle went they were out of the trench and charging towards the opponents. Within 2 minutes they were all limping off covered from head-to-toe in paint

Wear some thick trousers (combats or something)
Wear boots
Wear a fleece with a couple of Tshirts underneath (especially in this weather)

Honestly not necessary

Wear gloves - yes
Wear thick trousers - just a pair of combats
Wear boots - yes
Wear a fleece with a couple of T-Shirts underneath - you will die of heat exhaustion

By all means duck

But don't look over the top of cover.....look around it!

Depends on how you play. You play stratigically and let the nutters do all the running then you'll stay nice and comfortable. You run around like a nutter and get shot in the head 10x dying of heat exhaustion is the least of your worries

Definitely wear a wooly/thick hat, and one that covers your ears. Been hit on the ear once before on a cold morning, its pain like you never felt before!

that'll be the point when I crank my Tippmann A5 onto full auto.... cheating but... (actually I just lay so much on the cheating gets that they can't wipe it off fast enough... hate people who can't admit to being outplayed (I don't get that mad about it... I do just get even and spend a bit more money on them )

Oh, a good item to wear is actually a back to front baseball cap - my mask has a peak to cover the gap at the front and the peak of the cap protects the back of your neck. Most sights provide snoods but these look daft at the best of times

Armoured fingerless gloves... best bet.

I did once play in shorts and a t-shirt... didn't actually get shot that much - way too mobile! (that was before I got older and turned into a fat b*stard)

wear a hat backwards so if you get shot from behind the peak will take it and the fabric protects your head if you get shot there
