Cheesey,
Often go to the flicks in Basingstoke, there's loads of bars outside festival place, good atmosphere, worth a look..

cool thanks Ian, only thing I have never been to Basingstoke before so I don't know where that is. Or where we are going to park, or even where Liquid is. Should be a fun night

I lived there for a whole year one month. There were only two 'bars' in the town centre and one of those closed at 9:30pm! (inexplicably there were 54 roundabouts though, in a town the size of Rotherham) The place was like a ghost-town after 6pm (apart from the train station): I can understand why the f*ckers were trying to leave though. What a toilet.

If it's the place I think it is it will be full of Chav's pissed out of their heads. 14 year old lasses wearing their mums clothes trying to look 18. Be careful what you try poke.

Allegedly, the best bar by miles is the Rhu bar situated at the top of town, 2 floors and guest DJs on Fri & Sat, lots of old school retro music and no chavs in sight! In fact the bird who sits next to me at work is going there tonight! There are loads of nice restaurants outside Festival place, the big shopping centre where there is also a secure car park (pay on exit).
Liquid is just off the main drag of restaurants and will be heaving tonight (according to her!)...she's going there with 6 of her mates too! All fit birds apparently! Hope that helps.

I saw my mate's band there once. It's about the size of my living room!

Hate to chip in negatively, but I worked in Basingstoke whilst living in London and hated it, very ugly, grey looking place, and the contact I had with locals was always negative. Would not return there out of choice.......

Oh sounds like a scary place

But There is nothing wrong with Dave pearce, have seen him live in Ibiza and listen to Dance Anthems weekly and have no complaints what-so-ever. But everyone has the right their own opinion.

Thank you P1-Brad, will def try Ru-bar sounds funky and will look out for the car park, do you know if it open all night??

As for Comments about Chavs and under age drinkers, they are everywhere, I go out in Windsor all the time and they are there, so I know i can't escape them, just going somewhere different to look at new ones.

So near enough everyone hates basingstoke, well I'm off to find out first hand, I feel almost like a reporter going to the front line in Iraq, especially after the descriptions some have given. But I will report my findings tomorrow, probably not in the morning, as I'm already on my 4th pint of Guinness and going back to the fridge for more.

Until tomorrow.......

honestly trust me on this. You'll cringe in a few years that you ever paid to see Dave Pearce. He's a joke DJ. Ask anybody who has an idea about music. Still enjoy yourself but I'm just telling you how it will be

He is not the best DJ in the world, and I totally agree, someone who can't mix without using CD's is not really a DJ, I know, I was brought up with vinyl and using a sampler built into your mixer was classed as cheating. But he plays the music I want to hear!! classics, and the new stuff, and in a culture where you can't go anywhere to hear dance/ trance without it being mixed out and commercial RnB being played, u have to choose your venue based on what you are going to hear.
Plus its cheaper than going to a big venue London based club, which I haven't got the money for at the mo.
And it's part of the dance anthems tour so there should be a couple of live acts which usually are good.

So what I'm saying is I know what he is going to play and I know I will love it and I can't wait.

That's a bit like saying Palestine is ok as I have to live in Iraq during the week.

Neither are number one tourist spots

My in-laws live in Basingstoke and I very nearly moved there!!!!
