Default Painting a carbon effect

Just bought a car model and want to paint the hood to give it a cabon fiber effect. I did some research and fond out that I need silver chrome spray paint, thin mesh, and gloss paint. But since the current bonnet is white and not in black (as in the tutorials), I wanted to know if Ishould paint it in gloss or matt black?

gloss black or matt black, then I will overlay the screening on the painted black bonnet and paint over with the silver chrome paint. So what type of black paint...guess i'll experiment on both.

....maybe i'll carbonize the roof of my Scooby....

Well the real carbon weave is generally bound with a glossy resin, isn't it? I'd go for gloss, although you could do it in matt and clear lacquer the whole thing afterwards.
