Default William Gibson on Bladerunner...

“About ten minutes into Blade Runner, I reeled out of the theater in complete despair over its visual brilliance and its similarity to the “look” of Neuromancer, my [then] largely unwritten first novel. Not only had I been beaten to the semiotic punch, but this damned movie looked better than the images in my head! With time, as I got over that, I started to take a certain delight in the way the film began to affect the way the world looked. Club fashions, at first, then rock videos, finally even architecture. Amazing! A science fiction movie affecting reality!”

Awesome film, even now. I was blown away by Neuromancer too when it came out.

any news on the 2/3 disc Bladerunner special edition?

Filmstalker:

The restored "Director's Cut" will debut on home video in September and will remain on sale for only four months, after which time it will be placed on moratorium. Blade Runner: Final Cut will arrive in 2007 for a limited 25th anniversary theatrical run, followed by a special-edition DVD with the three previous versions offered as alternate viewing. Besides the original theatrical version and director's cut, the expanded international theatrical cut will be included. The set will also contain additional bonus materials.

So we'll get a remastered current Director's Cut, then the new edition then a full box set. Wait for the full box set, although it's likely to be late into 2007 it sounds like the version that will be worth waiting for

it's funny how bladerunner has come into vogue about 25 years after it was made , at the time the reviews were awful !!

Am I the only one who prefers the pre-directors cut version?

Yes the directors cut gives more of the deckard/replicant issue away but I just feel I liked the first version better.

Gene - original quote Usually "tell me about your mother" or Roys last words.
